I asked to go on a Desmond course an was told they don't exist. I went on a course with a dozen or so others with a dietician ,I think called the diabetes road map conversation. Designed to help you lose weight by showing the plate, explaining food labels, demonstrating portions etc It was 6...

    Gritty Eye

When I went to the opticians I was told that I have a gritty eye and was offered eye drops to help if I felt I needed them. The only problem I have noticed with my eye is that it is a bit blurred when i first wake up but that does clear after a few minutes. Has anyone heard of this and is this a...

    STOPTOVER, Smoke free October.

Happy to join you in your endeavour to give up. I have been smoking since I was 13 and am 59 so it is not easy. I have tried to give up on many occasions and have "been successful" several times in the past and have ended up going back on them when faced with a major crisis. I have tried every...

    Hot, hot nights

I have windows open, fan on across my feet, and spray water into the air, across the bedding and my body using a spray bottle designed for plants. The spray makes the air fresher and cools down the bedding. If necessary i will respray during the night. Seems to work for me. The only problem with...

    Type 2 testing program

Hi Has anyone signed up for the type 2 testing program as advertised on this site? £99 for a years supply seems a good option as it costs about what I used to pay for an annual PPC.

    How many carbs?

I would suggest you dont goto the extreme with the low carbing immediately. Change the white carbs to brown and cut your current carb intake by half and see how you get on. Then halve again etc. Carb counting can become obsessive. If you restrict too much too quickly you may have problems

I was averaging 11k between May and October but since then have hardly moved at all. I had a problem with my hip which put an end to that and the weight has been creeping up. Glad to see this thread as it will encourage me to get moving again. I have just retired from work and need to get...

    Food Labelling

I agree carbs would be better for diabetics rather than sugars but I don't believe the food labelling system was ever designed to help diabetics. I think it was designed to reduce the obesity problem which in turn may reduce the occurence of diabetes. I just wish it was compulsory rather than...

    Cambridge diet

I tried this diet years ago and lost loads of weight but unfortunately like a lot of "fad" diets put it all back on and more when i stopped doing it. Best way to diet is to cut down on your portion sizes and exercise more. Change your life habits and you are less likely to put the wieght back on...

    Share Your Progress!

I was diagnosed at the end of August with HBA1C of 7.7. With the help of this forum I overcame the shock and with the advice on here (and metformin) had a result of 41mmol on 7th December. If I have converted this correctly that is 5.9 so I am happy. I just hope manage to keep my act together...
