    Type 1

I’ve found to be it a trial and error thing, I’ve had T1 four years now I think, diagnosed over Covid. Since then found my routine with good and drink as well as exercise (if you do this is one that caught me out originally) but I typically No breakfast Lunch is usually meat and veg and rice...

    Sugar Tax

Definitely regret saying yes [emoji23] like weights because it doesn’t effect my levels going low, just a slight increase when I push it ! Plus…running isn’t fun end of!!

    Sugar Tax

Yeah I only buy lucozade to control mine, sweets and things like that I find hard to stop at 4 and nail the whole pack so don’t buy them - no self control You’d have to educate me a bit more on the T2 argument there as always thought you get that due to lifestyle rather than medical so I have...

    Sugar Tax

Well I didn’t know I could get the glucose gels on prescription [emoji23] so May look at that as with work I’ve been asked to do a half marathon which will be a tall order for me considering I can’t walk up hill on a treadmill for 15mins without dying [emoji23] Was thinking more for government...

    Sugar Tax

Do you think diabetics should be charged sugar tax? I know without being T1 I definitely wouldn’t be buying as many sugar products as I do to control my lows while gyming and exercise

    Semglee gone

I had the same and now on Lantas I find my readings are higher when taking the same dose, used to be 22 units and coasting at 6ish on my bloods, now I take 28 units on lantas and I’m consistently at 11-12

    Newly Diagnosed T1 and Terrified

Good and bad days will always be there but forums like this are great I find. A lot of people who don't have to deal with the constant calculations of carbs and insulin etc etc will not have the same understanding, but just keep going [emoji4] 1 bad day, 2 bad days...there is always a good day...

    Newly Diagnosed T1 and Terrified

Sounds correct that you're body is judt adjusting to it all, when I was diagnosed and released from hospital, like you went in with a BS of 38, my sugars would constantly go up to high teens. My long lasting insulin I was taking in the morning, but found a switch to take it before bed helped...

    3 weeks in...

I think you're doing fantastic [emoji122] I was ill over Xmas and my levels were great, just one of them things that most things can effect BG levels - I used to find it funny how over night I would have a dead straight line around 5-6...then the closer I got to work time my levels would shoot...

Newly diagnosed, up and down like a yo-yo

There is no perfect scenario unfortunately, you look like you're doing great [emoji119] When I started this journey like you I tried to get that straight like as I am a perfectionist and love a challenge [emoji23] but experience has taught me not to be controlled by T1...continue to live a...

    Freestlye Libre 2

I've been type one for just over a year now and jumped on the Libre 2 as soon as it was available to me. I don't find diabetes a struggle but the one thing I hated was the finger pricking! So find this makes everything alot easier I order patches from a company called Type Strong which help...

    Second HbA1c test

I've also been a tad confused as my 1st check up since diagnosis in March my HBA1C was 42 and had one last week which was 44. I keep getting told by multiple people (diabetics and nurses) that it must mean I'm having too many hypos but I definitely am not....I had a couple in November (one...

    Food and Alcohol Combo

Hi all, Little advice needed please. Normal day food consists of very similar, low/no carb meals No breakfast Lunch- tuna/chicken salads Dinner- meat and veg Occasionally have to odd pizza if I'm having a lazy day but other than that I'm pretty strict with the diet. I gym 4/5 days a week...

    Libre2

Glad you have found something that works for you now [emoji4][emoji119] All a learning curve I suppose, but I will still keep enough stocks of the lancets etc just so I can compare the two readings as I did read a number of articles about the libre being hit and miss More to learn as always haha

    Libre2

Just received my Libre 2 system! Just waiting for the sensor to set itself up and reading some posts about it and the differences to the traditional finger prick. Was diagnosed in October and had my first Hba1c reading for the doctors 3 weeks ago...came back as 44 so very happy with that! Will...

    Brown Sauce!

What's the comparison with brown sauce and ketchup as I put it all over my scrambled eggs and don't see that it affects my Blood Sugars massively... I have recently tried giving up the majority of carbs bread, pasta etc etc and only inject my long lasting 10pm every night 22 units keeps me...

    Dreams of America

Was just an idea tbh Mike, wasn't going for a year or two so was never going to be a jump on the plane and go type of thing...wanted to do my research before even considering it [emoji108] My brother did it with little knowledge and loves it so just wanted to be slightly more equipt than he was...

    Dreams of America

$350 for one vial which is equal to how many mls? One of my pens holds 300ml and lasts max 2 weeks...I walk into my doctors and they give me 5 of each that I need without blinking an eye lid [emoji23] Crazy to see the differences and how that could affect lifestyles so easy all based on money...

    Dreams of America

Thank you all, The jobs I have looked at have provided healthcare so I guess it would be to settle on a role and check out the level of healthcare that is given, as again I have read a few articles where companies cover most of the cost but there is sometimes still a cost involved. I...
