Type 1 How likely is this?

I just want to figure out some stuff to do with my medical problems and a question came into my head. I wanted to post on here to see if maybe I could get some answers. (I will probably be posting this on other forums, just incase you see it again somewhere else). I have Type 1 diabetes...

What is everyone's opinion on why we have Type one diabetes?

I'm just curious as to what everyone thinks. I've been trying to wrap my head around it for a few days now. Some say environmental factors such as viruses, some say genetics. But I don't know. I just want to hear everyone's opinions on why Type One exists and why they think they got it.

Does not eating stop you from getting a pump?

It’s gotten worse after she left. She went on maternity leave last year, not back till September this year. It wasn’t so bad when she was helping, as she knows a lot about EPI (my condition). But after she left things started to get worse. I’m now being sick during my episodes after I eat...

Does not eating stop you from getting a pump?

I’m eating little bits. Fruit mainly. Drinking water, fizzy, squash, juice, energy drinks. I do have ice pops as well as they don’t affect my stomach. I don’t know why I have to fund them. I suppose they’re not on the NHS as they are quite new medications. I’m waiting to get the surgeons opinion...

Does not eating stop you from getting a pump?

I haven’t got it till the 4th July. That’s why I am asking if they could stop it if they find out I don’t eat. I tried the medication but it wouldn’t work, they said I could try more but I’d have to fund it myself and not on the NHS because it costs a lot of money, I had a dietitian but they...

Does not eating stop you from getting a pump?

I have EPI, Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency. Every single thing I eat causes a bad reaction. Diarrhoea, vomiting/nausea, fatigue. (Malnutrition, low bone mass. Which happens in long term, I have had it for 4 years. So I’m malnourished and now have low bone mass.) if I starve myself then I...

    Electricity

I don’t know if I am posting in the right place but I need some advice. With the electricity prices that have gone up it’s becoming near impossible to pay for it. I store insulin in my fridge, so I’m worried that when I run out of electricity and can’t afford to top up which is right now, as...

How long after choosing your pump did you have to wait to get it?

I went and chose my pump last Tuesday (29th). I went with the Tandem T-Slim as it was better for my visual impairment and easier for me to use. She didn’t really discuss waiting times so I don’t know when to expect to hear about going to get it so I can learn about using them and practice with...

What happens at a Insulin Pump clinic?

I’ve just got an appointment to attend an insulin pump clinic over video for a few weeks, this is new to me as I wasn’t even expecting to have one. The doctor bought it up at my last clinic appointment but I wasn’t expecting to be allowed one because my sugars are up and down. What happens at...

I came across a diabetic discussion on Facebook for hypo awareness week. They were talking about eating jelly babies but not the yellow ones?? Why can’t we eat the yellow ones? Am I just being stupid? I’m so confused.

Type 1 Is it my fault I have multiple chronic illnesses?

Because every time I look up causes of epi and bladder issues it’s always “diabetes” or “uncontrolled diabetes” except for diabetic retinopathy which is obviously caused by diabetes

Type 1 Is it my fault I have multiple chronic illnesses?

I was diagnosed with type one diabetes in 2016, for 4 years (2016/2017/2018/2019) I didn’t look after my diabetes or myself. I was a mess. Refused to prick my finger, didn’t take insulin, for the first 2 years I did suffer with diabulimia, as I had a lot of issues with my weight but soon got...

Type 1 Why are Americans blood sugars read different?

I was watching some videos from an American type one diabetic and they have the same Libre sensor as me and theirs read at 118? But ours read at 9.2 or 12.4? Why is ours in points and theirs are whole numbers like 100s? Just really confused?

    Diabetic Retinopathy

I have recently been told I have "sight-threatening diabetic retinopathy" after my recent Diabetic Eye Screening test. I want to know what other treatment there is other than laser eye surgery as I really do not want to have that because I do not like anything around my eyes. I can't even use...
