Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

What do you do for exercise. My Hba1c is 5.4 but whenever I exercise I go low pretty quickly. Even if I eat carbs just before I go on a walk or a ride, they seem to stop working until I stop the exercise so it's extremely hard to treat a low while still exercising. I would say exercise quickly...

    Fasting as therapy

I regularly fast from dinner around 6 pm to lunch or even dinner. My bgs are fantastic throughout, they sit bang on 4.5 to 5 and after doing regular fasts it does not cause too much hunger. I always have a pretty big dinner with an number of eggs.

How many cups of coffee do you have per day?

I have around 5 to 7 black coffees a day. Anything with milk will spike my bg, not that I have been having black, anything with milkm tastes terrible.

5 things any newly diagnosed type 1 should know

Just a quick one, thanks for the info and good job with the diabetes. Why do you think the doctors think it's ok to have a higher a1c after 50? Never made sense to me to change anything if it was working?

    Managing exercise and insulin

I am regularly exercising mainly riding these days and at a zone 2 level 130 to 140 bpm, bs drops dramatically. I need to start with some fruit prior to ride and then take a gatorade mix in one of my bottles and the other bottle will have water. Always ride with a back pack with more food and...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Hi Alan58, there is quite a few points that can be made here but probably a question or two that may help with the provision of feedback. Are you type 1 or 2? Secondly what short insulin do you take and how much? What is your carb intake on a daily basis?

    How confusing

Omega 3 tablets are another buls#$t creation from big pharma. The oil within them is oxidised and creates health issues just like seed oil, which depending on how much is consumed can be worse for you than carbohydrates. But yes, do not take statins, they are another multi billion dollar big...

Libre 2 - App shutting down Android 11

My experience with Libre 2 is that you can lie on it in your sleep and it will lose signal. Not a great thing. Think about where you are placing the sensor and maybe look to move it round to areas that won't get in the way of spots you sleep on.

    Any ideas? Need help!

Hi xxconflictz, Have you had COVID recently, as that has been shown to massively decrease insulin sensitivity in some diabetics. If this is the case, then you may need to think of you current position as an ongoing one and deal with it as best possible until that resistance starts to come good...

    Sudden increased insulin sensitivity.

Jkcreech, You have not provided much specific info in your details. The event you refer to which made you go low sounds like one occassion. Was this occassion the same as the other ones you mention but provide no details on? In my experience as a type 1 for 25 years and someone who does a lot...

    Little shell shocked..

Northern Phoenix: Buy a book called "Diabetes Solution" by Dr Richard Bernstein, it has everything you will need to know and do and includes what to eat and what not to eat, exercise, hypos, hypers, complications, calculations and a bunch of stuff your doctor doesn't know or hasn't told you...

Libre 3 or Dexcom 7 for newly diagnosed child

Hey mum789, a little off the topic from CGMs, (and I am on Libre 2 which is a little bit more work - no Libre 3 in Aus.). They are amazing, but should not be relied upon to give additional bolus doses or extra insulin, always do a proper blood glucose for this as the CGMs run up to 20 mins...
