    Worried mum

Hi Blondie, I'd be really interested how you've found the pump? We are thinking of it for my 9 yr old DS but not sure as MDI is going well. He's seen another child with a pump 'eating what they want' and is now desperate for one :0/ Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Proud of us!!

My 9 year old was diagnosed 6 weeks ago and we've had many ups and downs since! I have been so proud of him injecting himself and taking control of his diabetes( as much as a 9 year old can!) First proper check up with the Endo yesterday and his Hba1c was 8.2, which doc was delighted with as...

    Basal / Bolus- please explain!!

I know that 6 weeks into life as a diabetes mum I should know what these terms mean, but I don't.... Would be grateful if someone could explain them. I think linked to slow / fast burning insulin and carb counting, but really not sure !! Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Glucose in Urine

We flushed it with copious amounts of water. Very proud of my little fella drank and drank with no complaints ;) BS been higher than usual today but I'm confident getting there now. Sure it was due to too much sweet stuff at dinner yesterday with not enough insulin to cover it. Sent from the...

My 9 year old type 1 has woken up for the first time since post diagnosis with BS 256(14), it's always been around 100(5.5). :( no signs of ketones from urine dipstick test, but glucose is 2+. Going to try and flush them and bring down BS with quick acting insulin. Is glucose a worry? Any advise...

    Hate that I'm here :(

I have a 9 year old boy diagnosed type 1 a month ago. He's been absolutely amazing, now looking after his own blood sugars and insulin! It does get so much easier and life has returned to relative normality- we just have to eat healthily, keep a track on his blood sugars and give insulin...

Hi, 2 weeks in and we're dealing with hypos- nothing major but trying to find out the best foods..... I'm right to think you get the blood sugar up using sweets/ juice/ glucose tablets? Then once better give a snack of slow burning carb eg crackers/ digestive. Today I'm sure my boy trotted off...
