Just a plea to all you type 1s on a pump

Sounds like your brekkie is a high fat meal with the cheese and the nuts. I would maybe take half upfront and extend the other half over an hour and a half and see if that stops it in it’s track.

    Urea levels

Thanks grant. Oh god I’ve been living off strawberries recently [emoji23] I love peppermint tea [emoji3] my renal dietician is awful. She didn’t understand about low carb in diabetics. She just read off a leaflet and gave it me. Do not have much faith. They have put me on labetalol instead...

    Ankle Swelling

How’s your kidney function? Tend to get them checked with all other diabetic bloods. Sometimes Chronic kidney disease patients can have water retention. Also, ever had any issues with your heart in the past? Sometimes that shows in ankle swelling/fluid retention. As the others say may be best to...

    Urea levels

Hi everyone. I’m ckd stage 3 and after a recent hospital trip, my egfr stayed stable but my urea was a bit high at 10.1... it’s really hard as dietician wants me to lose weight and for my mental health been enjoying the gym going low carb, so probably eating more protein and veggies and trying...

    Novorapid?

I’m starting a pump on Monday and I normally use fiasp on MDI. I’ve heard reports of novorapid being very slow and not the best choice for a pump.. although doesn’t seem like I got a day in that as she’s sent me the prescription for it. I’m aware it lasts for 4 hours rather than 2 with the...

    Advice please

Thanks Helen! To be honest it’s both. My renal dietician said my bmi is up a bit at 27 so bees to lose some fat and also tone. Yes I’ve wanted to try the climbing wall at a local gym but I’m worried I’ll look a bit stupid not knowing what I’m doing!

    Advice please

Hi there Trying to shift some stubborn weight, it’s mostly off my tummy as I don’t seem to have loads of fat in other places. As previously suffering with diabulimia I find the fact that I’m overweight quite distressing to some extent. Although I have a brilliant OH I still feel so low on...

Can you resolve GD while pregnant?

I don’t know much about GD so I’m sorry about that. However as a type one diabetic I do know that when you are dehydrated your sugars can be high... whether that would effect your glucose tolerance test I’m not sure.. they must take that into consideration. So I would still advise you follow...

    Weight gain and the pump

Ahhh wow that’s promising. I have a very healthy diet with the occasional drink. Don’t drink or smoke, and exercise up to 4/5 times a week. But the weight is so stubborn to lose. Others would say I’m not massively overweight but my BMI is in the category of overweight and it seems to be all...

    Wasted insulin

So I’m guessing you think novorapid isn’t too effective for you? I know it lasts for 4 hours. Fiasp has been great, although I find that because it’s so fast acting it wears off super quick with sometimes added need to correct. What was your experience with novo?

    Weight gain and the pump

Thanks. It sounds like I’m being ungrateful - I feel so blessed. However once you’ve struggled with an eating disorder it’s always niggling fleeting thought with things like this!

    Weight gain and the pump

Yes- ultimately deep down I know that better control is what I want I just can’t help but worry!! I can’t run at all but tend to do cycling and Boxing. I’d love to be able to run I’m just no good st it![emoji23]

    Weight gain and the pump

Yes I can understand that. I’m not really a snacky person. I’m trying hard to diet at the moment but not seeing much result! I’ll persevere! Yes the nurse who runs the pump clinic looked at me and told me that ‘I shouldn’t be allowed a pump with a hba1c of 61’ but then explained to her the...

    Weight gain and the pump

First of all I want to start off by saying how incredibly lucky I feel to of been given the opportunity for the pump after years of trying to convince my endo. A bit of background info - I suffered with diabulimia for years in my teens and young 20’s. I have since changed it all around got a...

    Wasted insulin

I’m under Preston and Chorley CCG , all pump patients have to go to chorley which is annoying for me as I live a good motorway drive away! Small price to pay I suppose.

    Wasted insulin

I’m not sure why she changed me, I’m so new to pump o didn’t realise you could have fiasp. I dunno if every CCG are different in how they do things.. I totally agree and will be keeping some as I’m going away for the weekend whilst early in my pump and I’m scared it’s not going to work!! It’s so...

    Wasted insulin

I went to my pre pump appointment and said that many of you had said I need to keep some pens, however as I’m currently on fiasp and the pump will be novorapid she said I need to inject the novorapid using a syringe rather than the pens I already have! Seems wasteful but I’m just doing as she...
