    Gliclazide and alcohol

I took my prescribed dose with my evening meal, then went out and got drunk. I checked my levels before bed and I was sitting happy at 6. Next morning I had the worst hangover since I can't remember! Still feeling it today. Not sure if it may be related to the gliclazide or just my advancing years.

    Gliclazide and alcohol

For the first time since going on gliclazide, I'm off to a wedding tonight and I plan on having a few beers. I know that gliclazide and alcohol can cause hypos - should I skip tonight's dose? Any advice?

BG rising by itself throughout the day??

Okay, well I started off with a BG of 9 this morning, it was 8.5 at lunchtime, 7.2 when I left work and 6.5 after walking the dog. Not as good as a gym day, but half the levels I was at last week.

BG rising by itself throughout the day??

Today will be pretty typical: 2 poached eggs for breakfast, chicken salad for lunch (grilled chicken with tomato, cucumber, onion, radish and lettuce) then dinner tonight is pork chops with cauliflower and broccoli. That's it!!

BG rising by itself throughout the day??

Sounds worrying!! I went to be bed night with a BG of 6.2 mmol/L and woke up this morning back up to 9 again. No gym today so I'll see if they rise from there or if the gliclazide will bring them back down.

BG rising by itself throughout the day??

Hi all I was started on gliclazide (after 8 years on metformin) due to a sudden and dramatic increase in BG, around a week ago and although it took a while, it has started to make my levels come down a little (fasting down from 16 to 9 mmol/L). If I take my morning dose with breakfast and...

    Someone to talk to

I'm having a bad time of it at the moment and it is hard when there's no one to discuss problems with, or who know how ill/sad/hopeless this disease can make us feel. This is the best place to come for advice and help.

    Gliclazide

Thanks for the advice - I guess I'll give it a couple of weeks and make another appointment there's no improvement. That said, I checked my BG after walking the dog this afternoon and it had gone down to 8.5.

    Gliclazide

Over the last few weeks my levels have been creeping up for no discernable reason, going from almost always being between 4 and 8 mmol/L to almost always being 10 - 13 mmol/L with absolutely no change to diet or routine. My hba1C has increased from 5% to 8%. I've been on metformin for 8 years...

    Advising doctor of self-testing

I'm always told by my DN that I'm testing too often - they recommend twice a week but I test several times a day. My doctor, however, was very pleased that I'm testing so regularly. Although they have just replaced my meter with one that uses cheaper testing strips and lancets, but that's not an...

    Pulses

How do you find they affect your BGs? One of my favourite comfort foods is a big bowl of ultra-hot chilli with half a tin of kidney beans, and it hardly touches my sugars. Another favourite is tarka dhal made with chana dhal, whole spices and fresh chilli and it's filling and satisfying but...
