Is There a Maximum Dosage Allowable of Gliclazide / Sitagliptin?

My diet is as low on carbohydrates as possible and hasn't changed much in the past 5 years. In that time the HbA1C has slowly crept up. Unfortunately, I need to eat regularly and often in order to keep my weight up, as I have an ileostomy.

Is There a Maximum Dosage Allowable of Gliclazide / Sitagliptin?

I used to have Ovaltine / Horlicks but have cut them out. My intake of bread is minimal. Unfortunately, having an ileostomy means that I have to eat regularly and often in order to maintain my weight.

Is There a Maximum Dosage Allowable of Gliclazide / Sitagliptin?

My HbA1C level averages about 8% every day (70 mmol/mol). I take 4 x 80mg Gliclazide tablets and 1 x 100mg Sitagliptin tablet every day. I am told by my Nurse that this is the maximum dosage and cannot be increased. However, even after changing my diet my HbA1C level shows no sign of going down...

Daily Testing of Blood Glucose Levels

This information is really useful. I have always wondered why my blood sugar is high first thing a.m., - usually about 7.5 or 8, as I test first thing on waking. So now I shall leave things for an hour or so and see how that goes. I have certainly found that testing has shown that certain foods...

Daily Testing of Blood Glucose Levels

Thanks to the various responses to my original question, I'm getting some sort of idea as to what blood testing is really all about. With no guidance from my local Medical Practice, I figured that what I would do is monitor a daily average and see how this compared with the 6-monthly HbA1C blood...

Daily Testing of Blood Glucose Levels

Curiously, my local Medical Practice has now issued me with FOUR different test meters, - first a Bayer Contour meter, then some Italian job which didn't work, then a Bayer Contour Next meter and lastly a Bayer Contour TS meter. I'm told that Bayer provide the meters for free (which is why the...

Daily Testing of Blood Glucose Levels

Some while ago my local Medical Practice issued me with a Bayer test kit. This was issued at the same time that I was put on tablets to help control my blood glucose. I take two blood samples each day, - one in the morning and one in the late afternoon. This provides me with an average value. I...

Type 2, - Blood Sugars = 8 in the morning, 5 in the afternoon

I'm Type 2 on tablets (Gliclazide 40 mg) and measure my Blood Sugar twice a day. In the morning, before breakfast the typical value is 8.0 mmol/L. In the afternoon, before tea, the reading is typically 5.0 mmol/L. The readings average out at about 6.9 mmol/L, which corresponds to the latest...

Concern Over GlucoMen Blood Tests - Giving High Results

Many thanks for the above comments. I shall let my local medical practice see them. As regards returning the kit, I don't believe that there is any risk of blood contamination on the kit. However, I am only a layman in this respect.

Concern Over GlucoMen Blood Tests - Giving High Results

The kit that I was supplied with was probably the Glucomen GM. I say, probably, as returned the whole lot to the medical practice (box, test strips, needles - the lot) and am only going by what I recognise on the Glucomen website. Some of the readings I obtained were so ridiculous that I would...

Concern Over GlucoMen Blood Tests - Giving High Results

I'm confident that the local medical practice DID send the test kit to Menorini. I have spoken to the Chief Pharmacist at the practice and she isn't a happy bunny at the moment regarding this business.

Concern Over GlucoMen Blood Tests - Giving High Results

Earlier this year I was issued with a GlucoMen blood testing kit (manufactured by Menorini) by my local medical practice. This was to replace a Bayer Contour blood testing kit. I was informed that the local Health Authority were switching to the Glucomen kits (in the interests of economy)...

Accuracy of GlucoMen Blood Testing Meter

I very much agree here. I was issued the GlucoMen by our local Practice (though oddly enough didn't have to return the Bayer Contour meter. I was informed that the reason for being issued with a GlucoMen was so that the Practice would save money on the test strips. Unless I am mistaken, this now...

Accuracy of GlucoMen Blood Testing Meter

The Medical Practice I belong to has recently changed the type of blood testing meters issued to Diabetes patients. I have type 2 Diabetes (taking tablets to control), and had previously been issued with a Bayer Contour meter. The meter I am now using is a GlucoMen meter. The test results I am...
