    Very Unwelcome News

I am truly shocked and very saddened. RIP Goonergal. You were an inspiration to many.

    Heat and Blood glucose readings

If you are struggling to sleep normally due to the heat, that could be a reason for increased readings in the morning after getting up. Bad nights are a common cause.

    Medical Record supplier

My surgery uses Patient Access and the NHS app. I can see all my test results back for years, with graphs, also my diagnoses and vaccinations - including a few from when I was a baby (my baby injections in 1948 and a broken leg in 1952. Originally I couldn't see the documents but a couple of...

    Member Coldethyl RIP

I am so sorry to hear this. She was one of the best. May she now be able to rest in peace.

Drinking wine with meal reduces risk of developing T2 by 14%

All I know is that when I was first diagnosed back in 2014 my lovely nurse told me to have a glass every evening with a meal but NOT to treat it as a diabetes medication! I have a couple of glasses every evening, one before I eat as an aperitif, and one after.

    Annual type 2 check up

I am always told it must be the first "flow" in the morning, and do my best to make sure it is. This is the only occasion I wish I were a man! Mine is tested first by the nurse with a dip stick, then whizzed off to the lab for proper analysis. Our surgery has 2 types of bottle for urine...

A Question to all the ladies on here with Type 2

I can't answer your specific question. All I can say is when I had chemo in 2013, as expected, I lost all my head hair and also all my other hairs including in my nostrils. My head hair grew back quickly albeit differently ( wavy as opposed to straight) but those in my underarms, legs and...

    Statins

I was told exactly that, in more or less the same words, when I was first diagnosed in January 2014 - 8 long years ago! Hardly new guidelines. You could ask your GP what these new guidelines are, who issued them, and when they were originally issued.

    No Energy And Dizziness

Are you eating enough fat and/or protein? As you reduce carbs you need to increase the good fats and perhaps some protein.

From 10.2 to 4.5 in 60 minutes after a walk. I just want to know if this is usual.

It sounds to me as though you had a touch of reactive hypoglycaemia from what you say in your original post. The wraps and soup caused a massive spike and your pancreas responded by producing far too much insulin immediately, bringing your glucose levels down. You may even have gone lower after...

    Six months check

I am a T2 in remission, and still get my checks and reviews. Have you tried contacting the surgery or wherever your reviews normally take place?

    What meals do you eat?

Booths low GI bread is my choice, too. One slice at once, sometimes another one at a different meal, but always toasted and smothered in butter. Defo no marmite!!! Delicious with a fried egg on top.

First Blood Glucose test of the day before foot on the floor?

I totally agree. If it rises between getting up and the next meal, it will rise whenever you test. All we can do it be consistent and watch for trends. The problem with testing after some form of activity, even if only pottering about, is that the activity itself can cause it to rise, and it is...

First Blood Glucose test of the day before foot on the floor?

My full bladder wakes me in the mornings, so my very first job is to put slippers and dressing gown on then empty bladder. Then wash my hands, return to bedroom and test before anything else. That has always been the case.

    Covid19 help

Keep checking them, and use different fingers. I have one and find the levels change from finger to finger, and can move from 95% to 99% in no time, and that is without Covid or shortness of breath.

Which grains are considered to be low carb

I think the "net carbs" gives it away. We don't have net carbs in the UK as fibre is already helpfully deducted. A carb is a carb.

    HBA1c up from 42 to 44 - what about a CGM?

There is very little difference between 42 and 44. The HbA1c test does have an acceptable error rate (not sure what it is), and the actual results are rounded to the nearest whole number before being published. I personally have had a 4 point difference in 2 simultaneous tests done at different...

Wonderful news @ally1 . What a brilliant Christmas present for you. :) Have you been doing anything different to achieve this?

Who Says You Can’t have a Low Carb Christmas!

I am afraid I ate what everyone else was eating. I was in a sod it mood. We were at our daughter's house from 1pm to 11pm. I did not take my meter. I did not test before bed, in fact I just fell into bed. This morning I was 5.4, so very happy with that, but I don't think I will be eating much...

    Delays in test results

No problems here at all in East Lancs. Early December I had my usual blood draw on a Friday morning. Results were on Patient Access on the Saturday. I then had another blood draw for B12 and folate as instructed by GP. Results were up next day. The NHS app isn't showing them though. The...
