Good morning,
I have some questions concerning my situation.
My GP believes that I'm at risk of developing diabetes because of my HbA1c result more than a year ago (5.8%, 40mmol/mol). Because of this, I modified my diet a bit, and the most recent HbA1c result at the end of August 2023 was 5.4%...
Hi guys. I’m currently visiting the UK from Aussie. I didn’t anticipate I’d be gone this long (coming up on 6 months) and really want to get an Hba1c done to keep monitoring.
I know you can buy at home tests but they’re quite ££. I am registered with the NHS so am wondering if it’s feasible to...
Hi. I am writing to ask you how often you check your blood glucose level (test-strip)? I am afraid that I have become obsessed as I use about 15 strips a day. In addition, I had problems getting a drop of blood, which causes myself to sting a few times ... I feel a bit depressed.
Good morning all,
My name is Will, i'm 27 in the UK. I suffer from Health Anxiety and have done particularly around Diabetes for many years.
I recently had a lot of concern I might be developing the condition (in July) and so asked to speak to my Doctor who let me have an HBA1c test performed...
Hi All :)
I recently had OGTT done in a private clinic in Scotland but instead of 75g of glucose, they have given me 380ml Lucozade to drink. I thought it was weird ... Even during the test I have asked for confirmation if that drink had needed amount of glucose. The receptionist replied that...
Hello,
I was diagnosed with prediabetes a while back with an hbA1c of 6.0 . My fasting blood sugar almost always is below 6. My post meal blood sugar at 2 hours when I have a low carb meal is mostly below 7.2 after goes below 6.1 after 31/2 hours of eating.
Lately I have noticed that after a...
Hello! I have recently bought a blood glucose test as I am interested in tracking my results. I am not diagnosed as diabetic.
Yesterday I had a fasting test result of 5.7. Two hours after eating it was 6.7. I did a test as soon as I woke up this morning (13/14 hours since last eating) and it...
quick query.
Just finger pricked an hour ago, test was 9.9 (I had a huge bowl of mixed fruit earlier as a treat) so that was expected to be high.
Tested before bed an hour later and it was down to 5.7 which I thought odd. So tested again on another finger. Result was 8.3 this time.
Tested...

I just received the summons to go get my yearly blood and urine test.
The paperwork this time says "this blood test no longer needs to be a fasting one" - to which I shout hallelujah, because I hate not having anything to eat or drink except water until usually well past 11am, since the Clinic...

Hi folks, had my first meter reading today. I got my husband to do it for me, while I looked away and tried to pretend nothing was happening. Lol!
Yes I know I've got to do it myself, but one step at a time. I need to segue into these things gently.
Okay so 1st reading was:
8.7mmol/L, before...
Hi everyone, my doctor wants to test me for type 1 diabetes and I'm just wondered if I could get some advice on what some of the main symptoms are?
She is testing me based on my low immune system and constant infections. I mostly get tonsillitis, chest infections, conjunctivitus, ear infections...
I was offered an 'Expert' meter by my Diabetic nurse. I had to have a couple of hours training in a group and a one to one review after a few weeks of using it. I have to say that it has revolutionised my diabetic experience. You have to feed in personal settings such as your insulin sensitivity...
