I know that you can’t cure insulin resistance, but I’m feeling smug today because in a year, I’ve reduced my HbA1c from 46 (end October 22) to 37 (this week). I’ve done all the big stuff - lost a lot of weight and maintained the loss, made permanent changes to my diet, increased regular exercise, all long term. I know I still have a problem, because even a moderate portion of carby stuff makes my BG spike (last night pre-meal 4.5, small tin of baked beans with no other carbs —> 11.7 2hrs post meal). So now most meals are very low carb, with the very occasional meal without restrictions. I have an eating pattern I enjoy, and a lifestyle that works for me, and my BG is now well controlled.
I owe much of that to the encouragement of posters to this forum, both those who have responded to my own posts, and those whose stories and discussions have given me hope and inspiration. Thank you, one and all.
