My guess is the consultant is telling you not to test on the evening meal because if you then did a correction dose there would be the risk of a hypo while your daughter is asleep. The consultant has said now only take a 1/2 unit of insulin if blood sugars are over 17 before a main meal, not supper. Only check blood sugar breakfast lunch and dinner and not in the evening! Seriously is it just me or does that not seem right.
Totally agree with iHs..... After school on way home...??The accu chek meters tend to read slightly higher than most bg meters including ones used in hospitals wnich raises a few ?? By Hcp
Is there any chance that yr daughter is eating some sweets on her way home from school? If she is, the bg level will of course go up but usually the effect from sweets is only temporary like an hour, so that might be the reason why the half or one unit is making her bg drop so quick

My apologies too, sometiimes as adults tho' we can overlook kids being with non diabetic friends etc on way home... But I totally forgot the hospital this week..
However saying that.. What food did ur daughter have in hospital? I know for my stay this year they gave me icecream for pudding!!-I could choose main meal dishes, but puddings were just dished out willy nilly.
Is there any difference in food ate today to food ate with her extreme highs?

She had just the usual hospital food, chips, mashed potato, nuggets, burger and yes ice cream at least twice.Sent from the Diabetes Forum App
