Hello!

So I'm a bit worried today as I've had absolutely zero bolus since last night and my blood sugar is just all over the place today. I can't quite figure out what is happening.

This morning I was running a little high at 14 when I woke up as I had a sudden drop at dinner last night while out and ate too many carbs in fear of a hypo. According to my sensor I dropped dramatically to 11 in 2 mins going down to the kitchen this morning. Usually I spike in the mornings. I had a few handfuls of cereal as I had a 20 minute walk to an appt and usually my basal keeps me the same level if I don't eat (apart from overnight as I'm sensitive)

As I was walking I noticed my sugars starting to rise and it went a bit high to 16. While I was in my eyelash appt I came out and got a going low alarm.. I had dropped suddenly to 5. I panicked and took some glucose gel to stop hypo on walk home as I was alone and had barely anything with me. Had a Mars bar when I got in. Went up to 12. I thought it was a sensor error as it keeps being funky today and losing signal but blood tests have said otherwise.

Had a nap and it looks like I spiked way up to 22 while sleeping and now I'm going down again and bear in mind I've had zero bolus today as I'm really fearful of hypos.

I've never had this happen before, what could cause this? I'm scared to take any bolus today! I've always had 26-28 units of Lantus a night and that has always been the dose I need. Like when I've got tummy bug and don't wanna eat my sugar levels are a nice flat line and never dip or rise.

Cake.
I wonder if you overcompensated?
I absolutely know my BG would rocket if I had gel and a mars bar with a starting BG of 5.1. That's a lot of quick acting carb.
I like my BG to be about 5 to 5.5 all the time.

oh that's not the issue, it's more the dropping without bolus that was the problem!

Have you checked your readings against a glucometer to see if you have a faulty sensor?

I have this all the time and end up having to recalibrate my background, and doing the best I can to stay safe with fast acting until the rapid dropping settles down and then I can introduce proper fast acting ratios again. Even though I’m on Tresiba, I get this phenomenon from time to time.

I’m putting it down to hormones because I’m 52 and female. It’s very frustrating and actually very scary.
