Hi all,
So I have just got back from seeing the nurse after my first 6 month check up and blood test since diagnosis in April. I was diagnosed in April with an HBA1c of 56. I was fairly fit and active for a 298lbs 40 year old, but it wasn't a massive surprise. So 6 months on with the help mainly of this forum and the great people on it, I am 32lbs lighter (the lightest I have been in over 25years) and my HBA1c is now 40.
Not a bad turn around in 6 months I don't think.
Been trying to go as low carb as I could, dropped bread, potatoes, rice and pasta. little or no cereals (this is difficult as I work for the worlds largest cereal manufacturer...lol).
The only note she did have though was that my good cholesterol has dropped slightly and my bad cholesterol has raised slightly, overall it's still fine, but I am going to have to keep an eye on this, going back in 3 months to check if it is still creeping up or not.
But HBA1c of 56 to an HBA1c of 40 in 6 months and I am over the moon. thank you to everyone for all of your help and support when I was first diagnosed, it helped immensely.
