2 Failed Libre 2 Sensors in 24 hours!

So, yesterday I had my trial libre 2 meeting with my hospital nurse. I self funded 4 sensors a couple of years ago, but could not get them to work with my phone. After leaving the hospital, it started to come away from the skin, wouldn't scan and eventually failed. The hospital gave me another whilst I wait for the Abott replacement (as it takes 5-7 working days) and it worked perfectly up until around 10 minutes ago where it just failed. I have been sat at my desk at work and haven't done anything!

Does anyone else experience this many problems on libre? I don't know whether to continue trying or just give up already, as I have had so many failed attempts.
 
Two failed in one day?! That's so frustrating!

If they've come away from your skin, at least you know the problem that needs solving. Some people have skin that CGMs just don't want to adhere to.

Some people use special skin adhesives to make CGMs stay on better. You can also get plaster-like covers to hold them on.

I haven't used either, but there are options out there. Other users can probably give suggestion for specific products.

In case this helps, my process for applying a FreeStyle Libre sensor is to wash the area with soap and water, dab it dry with a clean flannel, use an alcohol wipe to clean the area, let it air dry completely (very important that's it's totally dry), then apply the sensor.

The first one I used I believe was caused by sweat when walking back from the hospital (it is really warm!). The one that is still on my arm however is not making any sense as it was literally perfect and scanning each time. The office isn't very warm or cold - and this is from someone with a confirmed allergy to heat that sweats a lot! It is just so demoralising. It hasn't come loose at all.

I did order some patches and wipes yesterday.....but feels like a waste now if they just don't work with me!
 
Ah, sorry - I misread your first post.

If the first one fell off, hopefully the patches and wipes will help.

My very first sensor ended early for no reason and it was very frustrating, but I've rarely had an issue since.

One tip I'd give you is that the first 24 hours can give very inaccurate readings so when I apply a new sensor, I wait to activate it until 24 hours later. It still takes a bit of time for the readings to become accurate, but applying 24 hours early, I get an hour of inaccurate readings, rather than a full day. When I got my first sensor, my diabetes team told me that the first day needed to be done in tandem with finger pricks. Instead of that, I just activate after 24 hours.
 
Hi missamywebster. Unfortunately this is not unusual. This has happened to me on various occasions. I had one fail yesterday, the cannula was bent, 3 weeks ago I had 2 fail on one day for the same reason.

I use skintac which I get from Amazon to keep sensors in place for 14 days.

I had a similar experience with the free Libre trial. One never worked, one worked for a day or two, and one just about completed the two weeks. Abbott replaced the two failed units. Using the Libre gave me some really helpful one-off insight but I'm not sure I would ever pay for another.

I would definetly continue with the libre sensor. There are apps that state they can bring them back to life and even extend the life (glimp is 1 of them). My a1c has gone from high 8s to low 7s since using libre 2 sensor and an app called juggluco. There are also armbands u can buy that secure the sensors a bit more.
 
More than normal to me ( 60 minutes loop coming very often times, never know if sensor going to start or not..
 
@stevemesser276 I used to use Glimp but switched to xDrip as I preferred the UI.
Both are Android apps but both are techy (any documentation assumes you know how phone comms work) and not available from the App Store.
I forget where I got Glimp (probably GitHub). The best information and support for xDrip is available from their Facebook page where there are numerous documents under the Files tab. It is a private group but i don’t know anyone who was declined entry.
There is an xDrip4iOS app for Apple with their own Facebook group. Again, it is not available from the Apple Store.

They're terrible! I've had the last two go wrong plus many more before. The latest errors were: 'Sensor has ended'. 1st one after one day and the second after two days. I use 99.9% isopropanol to clean my arms even if I've just washed. They are unreliable to the point of being dangerous. I'm looking to get a pump instead.
