@Cumberland one of the first live football matches I went to - a very long time ago - was with some of my family (all Burnley supporters). Burnley lost 3-0 to Carlisle at Turf Moor with Peter Beardsley one of the stars of the show.

Goonergal
Peter Beardsley and his girlfriend (now wife) used to live next door to my sister in a village outside Carlisle

He was a class act

Carlisle were a decent team back then

Sorry @Lamont D but I have to say Yay! FGR 3 Tranmere 1. It's about time FGR got 3 points, pity it was against your team.

Good result for Zand's FGR and bad luck for Tranmere. Shame you couldn't have shared the honours.
Draw for Carlisle better than losing I suppose

My son tells me FGR were the better team on the night and deserved the win.

Correct, we were poor!
Sometimes, you just have to admit that you were not the better team.
We looked tired and yet still, we created some chances and the officials missed a blatant hand ball just before half-time.
No fun doing that amount of mileage in three days!
Got home at three in the morning because of motorway closures and roadworks!

Onwards and upwards!
We don't know have an away game till mid November, stupid fixtures!

They are sooooo annoying, especially when you have lost. Those diversions take forever.

Good grief, we had to divert off the motorway going down because of M6, in a queue at the start of the M5, so a three and a half hours journey turned into four and a half.
But going back, there was road closures all the way north or as on M5, down to 30mph. M6 closed at junction 17, so a detour through the Cheshire countryside!
The whole road network is a total car park!

oh yes, we've had it all on our journeys on the M5 and M6 on our way back from the NW with Arsenal. One journey took us through most of Wales I think. Oh and those speed limits on the M5....tell me about it lol. 20mph,30mph,50mph.
