Hi I started with a pump 4 weeks ago and on the second and third week I had a sensor fitted which monitors you levels every 5 mins for a week.

The hospital can then down load the data from the sensor and can see how your levels are for the week, how your insulin is working (or not) after you have eaten and what happens to you during the night.

If you are not on a pump I do know that they use them if you are struggling with control.

The hospital fit them which takes a minute or so and I have mine covered with waterproof plasters.

The data gives you both something to work with and it is pretty amazing to see it in graph form.

If it is a sensor that they are talking about I would recommend one to help control.

Good luck

Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM ) is a way to measure glucose levels in real-time throughout the day and night. A tiny electrode called a glucose sensor is inserted under the skin to measure glucose levels in tissue fluid.

There is loads of info on the internet on CGM.
