I was at work today and suddenly felt off in myself slight shakes empty feeling went to the rest room and checked bloods with my meter I was at 3.4 this was about three thirty I had a cereal bar that was kicking about and soon felt ok.
Here's the thing I had lunch at quart past twelve reading before lunch 5.5 lunch was a beef sandwich on multigrain bread half a scotch egg a decent piece of Stilton and a good slice of three cheese and jalapeño bread with butter, so why the drop into the threes after three hours ?

Your thoughts and comments please

Do you feel ok now as you've probably ate something for your tea?
Is this your first hypo?
Always have something handy to help you like glucose tablets or some jelly babies but not too many!
Do not take a sports drink as the sudden spike could be just as worse!

I'm fine now thanks was I was ok within minutes of eating the cereal bar.
Looking back I've felt like that before I was diagnosed I never took food to work just used to go the local sandwich shop at dinner, there has been the odd occasion when I was in the factory on my own and it's such a palaver to put the fork lift away lock all the place up that I've skipped dinner. And sometimes felt like that when I got home just put it down to being hungry, mind you as I say this was before I was diagnosed and I was probably kept going by the two heaped teaspoons of sugar in my tea.

Since I've been diagnosed I have been taking my own meals to work and until today had no problems I will just have to make sure I have something as a snack in my bag in case it reoccurs.

Those are good figures in your sig!

And you've lost a fair bit of weight, haven't you? Good going.:)

May I make a suggestion? Have a read of this thread. It's about reactive hypoglycaemia(RH).
Now, I'm the first person to admit that I see RH everywhere.
But that is because it IS everywhere.
:bag:

So don't worry, I'm not diagnosing you. I'm just offering a piece of info, which may, or may not be relevant to you.

The reason I'm suggesting it is because you've lost weight - by reducing in size, you have enabled the same amount of insulin to have a bigger effect ( less diluted by your size). Does that make sense?

Ok. Will shut up now.
And if the RH thread doesn't ring any bells, then pretend I didn't post. ;)

What meds are you on?

1000mg Metformin a day

@Brunneria

That's interesting thanks I will do some more digging into that as many years ago I had stomach ulcers and this was in the time that H Pylori hit the headlines. I had the tests and was positive.

As an aside I remember it well and remember as ulcer patients we were told there was no real cure if they got bad surgery was the only option Then thanks to Marshall and warren we were cured, a true medical breakthrough.
So you never know what's round the corner. There is as they say always hope

Not convinced that it is RH. The OP hasn't said anything about the symptoms of RH. He has had one or two hypos that most T2s get!
I will hold my hand up and admit I'm wrong if it is RH, but I'm not convinced.

Sancho, what are your fasting bloods?
What was your last hb1ac?
Do you regularly test before and 2 hours after?
Have you any particular weird symptoms that have developed recently?
If you have read up on RH the list of symptoms are there. How many have noticed.
If you want to. Have a carb meal and test every half hour after for up to four hours and see the results, you will be able to tell!

Nope, I'm not convinced either.

But I noticed that the hypo mentioned was 3 hours after a meal - which contained two portions of bread.

So I thought it was worth mentioning. And I did specifically state I was giving info, not a diagnosis.

I realised that as I read your post. I didn't want any confusion or misunderstanding!

Last hb1ac was 46
Fasting morning reading usually between 5.5 and 6.5
The only weird thing I seem to have developed recently is Phantom phone syndrome in my right thigh lol

I pretty much eat the same thing each day at work either beef or chicken etc so not sure what went off I have been fine today so I will put it down to one of those strange things that happens.

Thanks for your replys
