Background: I have a very weird sleep pattern but because I work from home I can accommodate the fluctuations and the odd overwhelming need to sleep at odd hours - as a consequence of this breakfast ends up usually occurring when everyone else is 'lunching'

I last ate 8pm last evening, checked my blood just now its 5.2, seems okay to me and I'm just about to indulge in bacon and creamy scrambled eggs ... wow what a lot of woffle

based on what I'm reading in the forum - I only seem to have / be hungry for 2 meals a day, whereas a lot of you guys are eating 3 and snacks the question is ... am I eating enough to be following the LCHF ?

If you're not hungry you are eating enough, in my opinion. I'm no dietitian, though, so someone else's opinion may differ.

Just have a think about your daily food consumption to make sure you are eating a good balance of protein and fat; also make sure you get plenty of low-carb vegetables (see Viv's Modified Atkins Diet in the 'Sticky Threads' section for a basic list) 'cos that's where many of your vitamins and minerals come from.

Some people eat 2 meals a day, some people prefer 5 little ones - if your pattern suits your body, why not stick to it? :D

As viv has said, if you are not hungry you are probably eating enough. If your weight is steady and right, That's good too.
I often eat 1 proper meal in a day and a couple of snacks, because I need to lose weight.
Essentially if it suits you and you are well, it's right.

If your not hungry after eating two meals and you are healthy and weight is stable then stick to what your doing

I eat 3 meals and don't snack!

Agree with everyting above.

I eat 3 meals most days

occaisionally have some nuts as a snack in the evening

occaisionally have only 2 meals cos not hungry

I'd say Listen to your body

I can't remember tha last time I had three meals a day! Usually have two or sometimes, depending on how hectic things are, I'll just have the one. I do, however, snack on fruit or raw veg during the day. Do whatever works for you, that's what I say! :)

There are no hard and fast rules as to how many meals you have, just do what is right for you. I have two meals some days, others I have three. My meals are quite meager usually, as I only have a tiny tum, so I do snack in the evening. It works for me, it may not work for the next person, so your body will let you know when it needs food.

thanks for the replies - I actually feel pretty full most of the time, its just somehow in my mind I haven't made the complete cross over from low fat to high fat. So although practically I'm doing the low carbs I'm really worried that I'm not going to be losing weight ( I need to lose about 7.5st  )
Plus everyone at home is doing the "surely you're not going to eat all that cream/bacon/butter" - wish it was a month down the line and I could just prove them all wrong (more importantly me right)

I've lost almost 5 stone using my diet over the last 2 years - only another 5 to go! Also my BGs, BP and cholesterol have all improved. As far as weight goes, I'm not hung up about it this time, more like eating for my blood glucose readings. I find that the slower loss means fewer wrinkles :D .

Never mind the comments - you are right, they are wrong, stick with it. Let us know how you get on.

"3 meals a day" and "breakfast is the most important meal of the day" are unscientific myths perpetuated by the "diet and nutrition" industry.

Once you get off the carbs, you can trust your appetite and eat when you're hungry. I sometimes miss one or even two meals a day. A bit of intermittent fasting will do wonders for your weight loss.

Totally agree with posters on here, just wanted to add that food taken when you are hungry tastes so much better !
I normally rise at 6am but rarely eat before 1pm.

Specially agree with Borofergie. We are all subject to an astonishing series of myths driven by the food police and medical professionals.

So long as you eat when you're hungry then no problem.
I am ravenous in the morning when I wake and not so much during the day until 8 in the evening.
Rarely snack (apart from slip ups like yesterday when I saw a flapjack  ) but drink plenty of water.
