Well done indeed on the HbA1c and weight loss. Excellent achievement.

May I ask if you fasted for this test? If not, this maybe why your triglycerides are a bit high.

I did for 12 hours, not 14 as suggested though .

12 hours is plenty enough as long as only water was consumed. So that isn't the reason. I suggest you increase consumption of omega 3 foods such as oily fish and flaxseed, and cut out any vegetable oils that are full of omega 6, such as cheap cooking oils like seed oils, sunflower and corn oil. If you buy any processed foods, ready meals etc always check the ingredients for oils used. In fact, most plant based oils are bad. Stay away from all takeaways that are fried in plant and seed oils. At home, try to use natural oils such as olive oil, cold pressed rapeseed oil, and animal fats. Avocados are also a good choice. But salmon and other oily fish are best foods to increase, and of course carbs will lower the HDL (good cholesterol) so be careful how many you eat.

Thanks for your kind comments, lets hope I can keep this up! Hopefully I can pack in the metformin too.

Seeing my GP next week, glad I didn't follow any of the dietary advice she handed out on initial diagnosis! :)
