I really appreciate everything that I’m learning from this site. So a bit of a follow up:
It’s early days for me - 5 weeks since diagnosis Type 2 - at diagnosis Hb A1c 8.2% Weight 86.2kg Abnormal liver function tests. A bit of a shock - so I read A LOT and dived straight in:
1. Started Low Carb HF diet
2. Libre Freestyle sensor (expensive, I know - but teaches me what I can and cannot eat with continuous blood sugar readings, and easy to get in Australia
)
3. Started Metformin - side effects stopped a higher dose but sitting ok at 1500mg per day.
Yesterday I had my follow up with endocrinologist and very happy to say HbA1c 6.3% weight 81.0kg and liver tests normal!
So for me it has been a combination of those 3 things that have made an enormous difference.
I wish the Freestyle Libre was affordable so everyone could monitor and see what works for them without multiple finger pricks a day.
My journey has only just begun.
