The cost of a blood test is beyond belief.

Surely we have plenty of resources that can make it quick and easy for everyone on the NHS to have blood test as we request as necessary.

I know we are Trillions in debt, however we all should stay healthy by prevention no matter what cost.

BUT - if they get "false positives" presumably an increase after 6 months, they will adjust the treatment & need to monitor 6 monthly ??? So if they act on the HbA1c, they will not know that the positives were false .... or are they NOT acting on HbA1c? And what about the true positives? They do not get the treatment they need.

The cost of an HbA1c in the UK is €18. (not sure how accurate though since it also says €50 for one in France:the cost at my lab is €28,although you would have to add at least one doctors visit charge on top at a minimum €22 for a GP, €48 for a specialist)

The estimated average cost per patient in the UK as given in the report ( this takes into account doctors/meds/hospital costs etc and will include people with very high costs as well as some with relatively low ones) was in 2010 €5,470 (£3,717) for someone with T2.

Quite interesting, I have wasted a lot of money on junk food and many years ago on cigs and alcohol ( not good French wine of coarse)

How come my Doctors have not requested for me to contribute towards my blood test etc; as I now realize how important it is.

Or am I just losing the plot on this Topic, thinking it is all cost related.
