6weeks unknown pregnancy , diagnosed woth type 1 diabetics

I am currently 6 weeks pregnant and have had two previous C-sections. During those two pregnancies, I faced gestational diabetes that was treated with insulin. Five years later, I unexpectedly became pregnant and was diagnosed with high blood sugar.

I started taking insulin as prescribed by my doctor.

I am worried because I wasn't sure if I was carrying blood sugar during my 6 weeks of pregnancy and it could lead to fatal growth defects.

Taking insulin aspart 4+4+4 as per doctor advice ,but Getting my morning fasting Blood suger 6.7-7.0 & after 2hours 8.5 -9.0.

Please share experience.I am worried about fatal growth if it is affected by blood suger.

Congrats on your pregnancy.

Yes it isn't ideal to have high blood sugars during pregnancy, but plenty of people do and still have perfectly healthy babies at the end of their pregnancies.

Do you know what your hba1c was at the beginning of your pregnancy? If it's very high then you are definitely at higher risk, but all this stuff tends to be a numbers game. Higher hba1c leads to higher risk, but some pregnancies (not just diabetic ones) end early and some don't, and should your pregnancy not be viable you'll never know whether this was influenced by the less than ideal bgs at the beginning of the pregnancy.

Hopefully your diabetic team are doing all they can to normalise your bg levels and check that your baby is healthy. As the daughter of a T1 mum who had me before glucometers were invented I can say that perfect blood sugars certainly aren't a prerequisite for a healthy baby, and in my own 2 T1 pregnancies I wouldn't have been worried by your current levels. (Am guessing your team want them a tiny bit lower ???)

Yes, doctors plan to reduce bg level to 5.5 to 6.5. My hba1c was 8.1%.

From weeks 7,O started insulin.Hope everything will be alright.
