Hi
I was 70 in August and have been Type 1 for 68 years. I have to reapply for my driving licence every 3 years. What happens now I am 70?
Do I have to apply for both conditions and/or separately? And if so, when?
DVLA site is not clear.

Hi,

I’m not in your position regarding DOB.
I am on a 3 year restricted licence.

Personally, I’d reapply just as or prior to the current valid licence expiry?
DVLA normally send the DIAB1 form reminder.

I have solved the problem!

I phoned DVLA , call was answered almost immediately and a very helpful lady understood my query! and told me I didn't need to do anything as the over 70 requirements are covered by the Type 1 licence.

A satisfactory outcome!

I was surprised that there were no useful answers or comments in the forum. Did no one else consider this an issue?

It may just be that not many frequent users of the forums are T1, over 70 and still have a driving license
Personally I'm still 20 years off hitting the 70+ thing so it hadn't actually crossed my mind about it yet :)

I would say I'll try to remember what they told you so I don't need to ask when its that time for me but a) I'll have forgotten (my memory is awful) and b) they could well have changed things by then anyway :)

I did.

But I felt I’d just resolve it by filling out another DIAB1 form when I cross that bridge..

Glad you got is sorted.

Best wishes.
