yesterday I had my usual breakfast and a long walk which I have done for a few days.....then at 11.30 am my blood had come down to 8...I was very pleased...I was also very hungry....so I had a few almonds and a cup of coffee...

i ate the nuts while the kettle was boiling within 15 mins could feel my head 'filling up' (as I call it). get thick and me feeling tired...

at 12.30 for lunch, my blood had gone up to 13!!

I know there is a much bigger picture and I am constantly looking into it.....i have great fluctuations anyway.......

any ideas on this one?

i cannot think of one!!

Firstly, what was your pre breakfast reading ?
What was it 2 hrs after breakfast ?
What did you eat/drink for breakfast ?
What distance was the walk and was it brisk ?
How do you know your Bg was on the way down ?

8am blood 11
had banana and cup of tea and water and two metformin tablets
went on walk 8.30am

brisk walk for an hour up and down hills

10.15 am blood 5......felt very shaky..could hardly type of write

11am blood still 5.....felt very tired and bit dozy

normal syptoms for me for blood sugar lowering

or anxiety...but thats not the case here

11.20 am had one plain cream cracker and cup of green tea

now its 11.30

still feel shaky...tired eyes and body......feel quite weak blood sugar now 7.4

yesterday

8am blood 12...banana and tea and water...
8.30am long walk as above

11.30 blood 8 ..........had some almonds and then a coffee 10 mins later

1pm blood 13..

after that I didn't jump into correct this...waited it out to see what happened......3pm blood 17.5 and so took 4 units to correct it down a bit....this amount for me is worked out to reduce the 17 to approx 9 if it works!!

6pm blood 6.5
9.30pm blood 9.2
11.30 pm blood 13.4
3am blood 15 .......took 2 units cautiously (had had some dry white wine also...so took this reaction into account......

sorry about the waffle..tried to keep it straight forward . :?

Looking at what you ate and your levels, there doesn't seem to be anything that would raise your BG by much...

A couple thoughts here..

One could be a delayed reaction from your exercise pushing up your BG's
You could have had a liver dump due to the exercise (more likely than the one above) as with the wheather being cold and walking through snow and ice, does use a lot more energy than one might expect
Another possible cayse is that you may be coming down with an infection, this can also put your BG's, sometime before infection or illeness start to show symptons

thanks....I still have a cold...in my second week...although this week is much better...was in bed with it last week and on steroids to help with my chest cough...

I seem to rarely be without one infection or another these days..oh and now I have a coldsore to boot!!!!
