I am type 2, have been for quite a few years, was not over weight and did a physical job, but always struggled to keep blood sugars at a good level. I had heard about the 800 calorie diet a few years ago but did nothing at the time. It was not until after Christmas this year I finally got the will to have a go at the 800 diet. I have managed to get my visceral fat down from above average to the lower end of normal, body fat down to 16%, weight down from 12.5 stone to hovering around 10 stone, and BMI down into middle of the green band.
It took lots of exercise, spinning twice a week, gym once a week and lots of walking, and managing the 800 diet for 8 weeks, but I did it! I have amazed my diabetic nurse and also have been able to reduce the medication I had to take, with permission from the nurse. My blood sugar readings are constant, I kept detailed records over the 8 weeks and kept to the calorie count, which I passed on to the nurse.
I just wanted to pass this on, as for me it has helped and I feel that if anyone else can benefit from the 800 diet then hopefully the word will spread. I must emphasize that I did run my plan past the diabetic nurse first and kept her up to date over the 8 weeks.

Congratulations on your great results. May I ask about your maintenance regime, please? And did you use shakes or real food during the Eight Week plan?
