Good grief! Definitely ring the practise manager! Hope you get sorted soon!

My doctors are deregistering 1500 patients and closing their list to anyone except immediate family of those already registered. I'm just waiting to see if I'm one of the 1500 or not. Letters should be recieved by the end of the month.

I understand why they are doing it but............

To other nearby ish surgeries.

That's what I was going to post!

I doubt they're as full as my current one. I believe theres too many patients and apparently they have been unable to recruit the 2 extra doctors they need.

oh and theres still more houses being built.

The nhs is not dismantling...it is groaning under huge economic pressures from the govt etc and from an increasing population and unknown immigrant Qtys......

It needs help from patients signing up petitions etc to save it and put pressure on govt...

Everybody can do this if they google 'put patients first petition'

It is no good patients just moaning!!! Find out what you can do to help.. Join your GP PPG's, sign up to 'put patients first' etc...

I am nothing to do with NHS, but I am doing my bit to help it...it's helped me enormously with my T1 for 30 years and I am just trying to ooen people's eyes to just how they can help from root/ground level...

Durham is the same - they are building thousands of new houses but no extra surgeries or schools. The local hospital can't cope with the numbers we have already and are frequently turning ambulances away

I was ill last Sunday, and knew I wasn't desperate and got an appt with my senior Partner online no trouble at all.

If you can deliberate your treatment online then you are well capable ig registering as a patient who would lime to book appts online, prescriptions are available for a lot of Patients too, and tests results will be available in the furure...

Basically, if you can order from ebay ir Amazon, then use these skills to book your appointments.. Sorry... My Receptionist at my surgery in a morning on average sees or takes over a 100 calls.. Thats just one receptionist... We have 4 people answering calls etc... If you cango online to deluberate, then you can get yourself on line to book an appt.

In our Practice, online bookings... you will never have a problem..

Now that's a good idea DD, nice to see some surgery's are moving into the modern age.

I've been able to book non-urgent appointments and request repeat prescriptions online for about 12 months now. I've not needed an urgent one for years (touch wood) but the rceptionists are generally pretty helpful now both in person and on the phone (and all calls I believe are "recorded for training purposes").

We are lucky too to have a dispensary cum chemists attached to the surgery and I've sometimes been able to resolve issues , e.g. switching to SR metformin by speaking to our pharmacist.

ALL gp's that have signed up to have partners (self employed) and under QOF payments HAVE to achieve certain standards i.e online appts- minimum 20% of appts have to be available online)- and currently vastly under used by Patients..
They have to have prescriptions, test results, summary care records available before certain dates in 2015....

Unless Patients take an interest the govt's will get away with their **** cuts.

Our Practice is just introducing text messaging too to try and reduce the 30 patients a week that don't tuen up to their appointments.

We have a great new Practice Manager, but just 5 months ago our Practice would have failed the Cqc inspection.

I have painted the Practice on Sundays whilst the Senior Partner does his paperwork, I have laminated all posters, my secretary has done H&S assessments etc... All voluntarily done by our PPG. We do regular Newsletters and talking to Patients, and surveys-of which the GP's have to respond to.

The NHS needs help at ground, root level... Not Patients demanding things from their GP's that are just not viable....

Everybody has a huge, increasing population an housing etc appearing in their towns and City's. People can choose just to moan or make themselves more aware of what is actually happening with our GP's.

I'm not denyig they earn good money etc... But resources and money to patients is declining hugely, and that is NOT the gp's fault.

Thanks for the info DD.

The missed appointments in gp surgery's is a cause for concern, my own surgery is much like yours and displays how many have been missed the previous week, I don't get to see my Dr much as my diabetes checks are carried out at the hospital clinic and I only get my bloods taken at the surgery by the DN.
