A&E or walk in emergency centre?

Maybe this is an England and Wales issue as any Glasgow A&E units I've been in are usually full of genuine patients even at the weekend. All hospitals in the area have a Minor Injuries Unit and Out of Hours GP walk in together to ease A&E and I've used them too over the years. The only issue is getting to them if you're not fit to drive.

I am a triage nurse working in an Urgent Care Centre located next door to the Emergency Department, we try and ensure that only those who need ED are sent round there, otherwise they are seen by GPs and practitioners in the UCC. We see approximately 300 patients per day, and it works very well. We are open 24/365.

This is rare for 24/365. Well done your CCG....

I finally went to urgent care but despite having iv meds I ended up having surgery last Monday for the abscess anyway .
