I just wanted to say thank you so much to everyone on this forum. Being a newby, I've absorbed so much helpful info. I'm unable to give much back at the moment as I'm not experienced enough, but hopefully that'll change given a bit more time. Today has been the best day since I was diagnosed 7 months ago. I have made a concerted effort to reduce the carbs, I'm on about 80g per day and am now incorporating more exercise into my day. My bg readings for today have been between 5.4 and 6.4 and I test before and after each meal. I have only one more to go (before bedtime), so keeping my fingers crossed this one is good too. As it's cauli cheese tonight, I'm not expecting a spike. As I'm on mixed insulin, which I understand is not as accurate as basal/bolus, I'm thrilled to bits with my results. I accept that today's results won't be repeated every day, but it has given me the confidence to continue with what I'm doing and finally control diabetes. I hope my more positive approach, might make fellow Ds, who are struggling, realise that with some discipline they can achieve excellent results. I've surprised myself with what I can achieve, but I have to admit I'd still give anything to be non diabetic..........

Those are brilliant numbers , well done you ! :D Mixed Insulin is not without it's problems , so double well done ! Be well proud of yourself :D

Hey June, you seem to be doing so well, love your upbeat positive attitude. Don't feel as though you don't give anything back, it's the little things like hitting that like button, and just being here that makes a difference.

We get people come through the door every day scared and lost, you don't have to be technical, just letting them know their condition is very manageable and point them in the right dietary direction can help to make someone feel so much better, you have plenty to give back, and I have seen you post, you do.

As for being non diabetic, I say it has given you an opportunity to show fortitude, a beautiful virtue, and look at the healthy changes you have made as a result.

Good for you
:)

Hi June, congratulations, well done you.

(And I think you offer a lot, I've read some kind encouraging posts from you as I've hopped around the forum, and they encourage me too, and I am sure many others).

Hope the cauliflower cheeses behaves itself!!!!

Thanks Signy. I'm so chuffed with my results, but I do accept that tomorrow is another day and I may well fall flat on my face:(, but at the moment, I'm just revelling in what I've achieved.:) It's a light at the end of a dark 7 month tunnel.......

Hi Daks, thanks for the compliments, very much appreciated. I never considered my "likes" as being positive, but I guess they are. Being new to all this, I feel I take more than I give, but if the little I give can be helpful, then I'm pleased and yes, my diet is far healthier than pre diabetes. Amazing to find a positive in being diabetic, who'd have thought......................It's also shown me I have an inner strength which I didn't know I had.

Hi daffs (if I might call you this). I'm so pleased I've encouraged you and a few others. I have a big "L" plate on my back at the moment, so to have been able to help in a small way makes me feel very satisfied with my minute contribution. I have about an hour to go before the final bg test of the day. I'm dreading/looking forward to it. It could be the perfect end to the day or shatter my euphoria as how to well I've done. I'll post in about an hours time.

Very well done June, you've come a long way in such a short space of time, really pleased your turning a corner :)

Yes me and it was yummy with crispy bacon bits sprinkled on the top. Feeling hungry?

Awwwww I feel like Homer Simpson drooling !

That sounds celestial June !

Also well done on where you are now. You have worked so hard and shown so much commitment in coming to terms with this condition, you ask questions and you are there for others also.

Pleased for you June and for the forum in having you :)

Thanks Noblehead. I've been in a dark tunnel for several months, but am finally feeling more confident. Having taken myself in hand with lower carbs, more exercise and a healthier diet, I seem to be getting the better of this atrocious condition. The forum and all its fantastic members have been a godsend. :):):)

My final bg reading for the day is a magnificent 6.2. I'm thrilled to bits with my day, but tomorrow is another day, so who knows.......

I just wanted to say thank you so much to everyone on this forum. Being a newby, I've absorbed so much helpful info.

Isn't it wonderful, June. Everything I've learned, I've learned from here and from reading - principally Bernstein, who @Ian DP put me onto - bless them both - and also Jenny Ruhl and Volek & Phinney. But most of all from here, listening to that most precious knowledge of all, each person's experiences.

This has been the most empowering experience ever.

And you're only at the beginning. You'll find your way, and get better and better at it.

Lucy

It's great to hear you are feeling a bit better about it all June and seeing good results, really well done you.:)

Your yesterday results are excellent, it gives you such a boost when things work well. I call a day like that ,when my blood sugar behaves all day, a Midas touch day. Here's to many more good days :)

Thanks Lucy. I feel as though I'm finally standing on top of the hurdle that was thrown in my path a few months ago. My confidence is growing and I think without the forum, I'd have still been a lonely, frightened, tearful individual. Today has started well with another good bg reading, so perhaps yesterday's excellent glucose control wasn't the blip I thought it was, but instead a sign of things to come. I feel as though I've made so many new friends and I'm not alone anymore :)

Thanks Flowerpot. Yesterday has really given me a boost and proved I can be in control if I really try. As you say, here's to many more :)

Brilliant stuff @June_C

You sought help, you got it and now you show others the result of those efforts !!!!

EXACTLY what I do. You're NEVER alone around here. Love your work :)
