Hi @harryhonda
Here’s some info on UK meters, and to be clear I have no commercial connections with any of the companies mentioned.
Home Health have recently bought out the Gluco Navii, but I haven’t heard any reviews yet, links to strips and the meter:
https://homehealth-uk.com/all-produ...ose-meter-test-strips-choose-mmol-l-or-mg-dl/
There are also discount codes for when you come to buy more strips - "navii5" and "navii10" will give you 20% off purchases of 5 packs of strips and 25% off 10 packs of strips respectively.
Disclaimer, I haven’t used the discount codes that I have quoted recently so I don’t know if they are still current.
Thanks you so very much for your advice, help and support and for taking the time to send me the links and information greatly appreciated as it is a scary time right now getting my head around everything
I did ask for a free monitor and they have accepted me so thank you for sharing that information
You are a very lovely kind person
Thank you
Have a lovely weekend
Kindest regards
J x
Spirit Healthcare have a meter called the Tee2 + found here:
http://spirit-healthcare.co.uk/product/tee2-plus-blood-glucose-meter/
with the strips found here:
http://spirit-healthcare.co.uk/product/tee2-testing-strips/
Some members have got a free Tee2+ by phoning up to order, with a large order of strips they often throw the meter in for free:
Phone number 0800 8815423
With more expensive strips is their Caresens Dual which I currently use, this one has the advantage of glucose and ketone testing in one machine, it’s to be found here:
https://shop.spirit-health.co.uk/collections/caresens-dual
Don’t forget to check the box if you have pre diabetes or diabetes so you can buy VAT free. (for all meters and strips)
Thank you for your help, support and advice greatly appreciatedHi @harryhonda , and welcome to the forum!
I think you'll like to have a read of our introductory piece on diabetes: https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/basic-information-for-newly-diagnosed-diabetics.17088/
What is the problem with your meter? I'm not familiar with that brand but others will be able to help you out choosing a meter or solving the problems with this one.
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to meThese figures probably refer to your hba1c (which is a measure of your average blood sugar over the last 3 months). A normal blood sugar reading goes between 4-8 mmol/L (or 72-155 mg/dL if you are in the US but am assuming you are UK based).
If you are funding your own meter then the most important thing is the cost of the strips. I'll tag @Rachox who seems to be the go to person on strip advice.
