hi I'm type 2, I take 4 x500mg metformin and 1.2mg liraglutide a day, four weeks ago I was also taking 1 januvia tablet a day also, the doc at the hospital took me of Januvia, I had to see the diabetic nurse the following day and she put me on 1 10mg Dapagliflozin a day, I was on this for almost 3weeks, it was horrendous, I couldn't stand up without going dizzy, I was up 5/6 times every night for the toilet and the thrush was the worst I have ever had, I got in touch with the nurse who said stop taking the Dapagliflozin and arranged to see me this coming Wednesday 22nd.......
The problem is the last few days my bloods have shot right up getting up to 13/14 in the morning, going up to 18 mid morning....and afternoons and evenings I'm sitting anywhere between 19 and 23..... am I ok to leave this until Wednesday or should I go see my GP this afternoon, the diabetic nurse is on holiday until Monday and I know there will be a stand in but because I live in the highlands they won't be at the local hospital ....it would mean a 60 mile trip to Inverness, can someone plz give me some advice, doesn't seem to matter what I eat or drink my bloods are shooting up, I'm walking loads trying to bring them down but doesn't seem to be working....so can I safely wait until wednesday or is it important I get seen before weekend?

Thankyou for any advice x

They don't tend to do phone consults, they have open surgery so I can just walk in and wait and it's not far, just don't want to waste anyone's time x

If you're not feeling well and getting high readings you do need to get medical advice. You're not wasting their time. I'd get along there. Hope you are get some help.

Agree with all of them ^^^

Very curious to see how it went?
(and very jealous that you have a drop in surgery. Awesome. That is a bit better that waiting for days for an appt, by which time you have either died or recovered!)

Thanks for your comments everyone, just back from docs, I have to increase the liraglutide to 1.8 mg until I see the nurse on Wednesday, also gave me an antibiotic as there was blood in my urine, but no keytones!
She said if my bloods get worse over the weekend then I have to call the oncall GP who is just 20 miles away.....but to be prepared to be taken in to hospital till they get me sorted, hugely made a fool of myself by bursting into tears.....don't know what's wrong I'm so emotional today.....so Thankyou again everyone, you have shown me more support than my own husband, who couldn't be bothered finishing work early to go with me !

Brunneria......walk in surgery is fab, it's on twice a day and not usually to busy x

It seems you have had some excellent advice from your doctor. Good to see he is looking after you. :)

Let us know how you go on.

Hi. Your medication e.g. Liraglutide suggests that you have some excess weight? Are you having a low-carb diet which is very important? If you are slim then you might be T1 and not T2 but if so Liraglutide would be a very unusual medication. Keep the carbs way down, have plenty of water, test regularly. See the surgery if blood sugar goes into and stays in the 20s. Note that although exercise is very good, the right diet is the highest priority.

Don't worry about the tears!
Having high blood glucose like that wreaks havoc with your emotions. And then there is the worry...

Glad you got some advice.
Take it easy, follow instructions, and don't hesitate to contact the doc again if you need to!
:)

hey it is quite common to get emotional when being acutely ill, I get there myself just before I get really ill... so don´t feel ashamed of that... hope you´l get better soon dear Cruze21

Thanks for letting us know how it went @cruze21, your GP sounds good. I hope you are ok until you see the DN on Wednesday.
But don't hesitate to phone the oncall doctor if you feel ill before then even if it does mean you have to go into hospital.

Hi everyone, quick update, woke up to 13.5 this morning, had breakfast, went up to 19...... went for a long walk, got it down to 14 before lunch, had lunch and took 1.8 mg liraglutide, and two hours after eating I'm sitting at 12.6, I know it's not brilliant but it's a whole lot better than yesterday x
