Type 2 A little warfarin problem

Good afternoon... In addition to my newly diagnosed Type 2 (though curiously, my GP hasn't coded me as anything as yet after a month, but that's another story), I also have hypertension and atrial fibrillation. This means as well as medication to control those conditions, I also take warfarin for stroke risk reduction. My problem now of course is that I want to test my blood sugar - and I am testing it - but I'm getting sore fingers as I can bruise easily. Anyone else here taking warfarin or other anticoagulant either short or long term who might have some tips for me? I'd be really grateful.

I have been taking Xaralto for AFib for four years, I use a Accu-Chek Multiclix and also have a Fastclix lancing device.

I have both set on 3½, and I rotate my fingers and thumbs around to give each one a spell.

When I was nursing we were taught to press on the puncture site for longer for people on anticoagulant medication.

Yes - as a nurse I was taught that too - and do it ☺ But with repeated testing, they still get sore. Thanks anyway.

Sorry, didn’t mean to teach my grandmother to suck eggs! I didn’t realise you’re a fellow nurse.
