A new emotional issue with diabetes

A little bit flummoxed having had hard time and slept in such a strange pattern. hard to know what's going on since my readings are good. I had a notice of a new message and i can't find it... but one of you told me my a1c was not prediabetic but diabetic and i wondered if i had said it right. and we have talked about the diane kress book. everybody is calling me newly diagnosed and it is 8 months. it feels new but is that really what you would call new?

so ijust reched my a1c records and i was wrong. so i am corrreectingi it. in december it was 8.8. in may it was 6.4. and then i started eating badly again but not as badly... but started to spike when i tested more.

i never followed the kress book completely. i used it as a guide and still got that much change. i think that s a good change??? is it?

now the other things is in the topic of alternate testing sites i had a message i can no longer find from one of you who tested on her own abdomen trying to tell me how to do it and she couldn't get the sample and i did the same and also failed, but it was truly painless and didn't bruise as much as my early awful learning curve learning on the thigh. i said here that a woman on youtube was demonstrating and pricking her abdomen 5 times. it was unclear on the audio and i found an article on alternative testing that cleared up that error for me.

what she actually did i assume was called pumping. leaving the lancet in place but the lancet has already retracted and the technique is to pump the barrel without moving from the exact sight to bring the blood closer instead of trying to pinch the sample out. there is a big difference and i am almost never faili. here is a link to the article. i think there are 3 pp and it might be on any one of them. it has internal clickable links.

im testing myself always and for me that is hard because the quality of this products is too bad we need something like the insulin pump i think is the best way to keep us in real control im too busy to check mine sugar levels

arturo, it is very hard isn't it? and the products are really bad you are right. at this minute i need testing but just cant because it is too hard for me. usually i do. this time i will just eat a little. i;m sorry its hard for you too. it helped me to hear that. thank you.

regarding your other conditions. i gcan't get this reply in the right place...but i identiy with many of the other conditions you mention, the digestive ones... around reflux and its symptoms.... the tmj and old injuries. some of what you mention sounds like part of a fibromyalgia syndrome... wishing the best to oyou as well.

well this week I got told by one of my specialists that it's highly likely I have fibromyalgia. The reason why was explained to me after I described the 'attacks' I've been getting this year where I get one big lock up spasm right through from throat to bowel. Apparently that's a fault of the ANS and brain neurotransmitters misfiring bad to cause that my specialist believes. So he says if that is happening to my GI tract, it will be likely present in other parts of my body as well.

So it seems you were on the money. I've yet to confirm if that is going on my medical record or not... but it probably will. I'm already on the meds to treat it.

@Mep - you might find Dr David Brady's book "Fibro Fix" worth a look :)

thanks @Indy51 - I'll take a look.

I'm having one of these horrible attacks right now... been going for almost 2 hours now. I wish I knew how to stop it. It started right after I took my meds for dinner so took an extra 5mg of nifedipine as thought tripling my dose wouldn't be wise. I'm not sure it's working so maybe I should've... but risking low BP doing so. My BP is sky high though from the pain of it I think. Oh yeh I'm supposed to lie down but I just ate so that's not a good idea either.

@Indy51 - do you know anything about the 21 day plan in the book? Is it diet related? If so is it acidic foods? No point in me bothering with that if I can't even do it. I can't eat a lot of stuff these days. But then it may have other helpful tips.

Sorry, I haven't read the book, so can't help with diet details.
