You are so right about the op.
She had to have most of her large bowel removed at age 16 because of ulcerative collitis . She has an ileostomy bag and will get it reversed and major surgery in the next year.
She was skinny because of the colitis and has put about 4 stone on since her op ..suppose that's what happens when you actually keep some of the food you eat rather than having diarrhoea all the time.

How awful for her, and you. I guess you would have had this for her if you could?
Puts things into perspective.

Michael Gove and his insane educational? policies!
Not completing 30 consecutive minutes feels like giving up.
Feel a walk to shop coming on......
Pip, you are an inspiration and you make me laugh out loud! Big hug!

Eh, what did I say that was funny?
By the way, I thought you meant Horton Market. I thought I could by decent organic grub there.

Not many.
How could I have forgotten Lee Mead? I only saw Joseph a dozen times.

5 mins on bike then out for a brisk 40 minute walk at Kielder.

...I saw it too but only the once :bigtears: amazing when he flew over the audience, was hoping he'd land on my lap but he didn't...

...did a ton of ironing earlier as zand didn't turn up to help, so that and my walk was the exercise today..

I don't always manage my 30 minutes in one stint either and tbh I've found that having three sessions of ten mins on teh bike actually seems better for my BS than one 30 minute walk as I don't get any liver dump then. Just do what you can , when you can is my motto as it all helps.

zand is trying a new technique with the ironing - using the left hand, possible but slower. zand is very lazy at the moment and is failing this challenge

Yes Lee Mead, Mmmm. Nice one cold ethyl.

It was a bad time during most of her teenage years Andy but shes well now, just finshed second year at college and is going to take a year out , have her surgery and go to Uni.
She is young for 20 , I think shes probably 17 in her head.

Ulcerative Collitis is a horrible disease when its bad and I don't think people realise that its not just needing to go to the loo alot. It affects your joints, your eyes and a whole host of other things. But like I say shes well now and that's what matters
Thanks for your kind words

In a heartbeat Pipp.
At points over theyears before her op we thought we were going to loose her.
We had Consultants in looking after her in the middle of the night because she was so ill.
When a 15 year old gets her mam to shower her and help with her toilet needs you know shes ill. Ordinarily she would nt let us near her .

Quite entitled to be, bless her. So much to cope with, so young. Hope she gets to a university with good support, and she has a happy group of friends and a whale of a time.

If she is blessed with her ma's determination she will go far.

Wishing your daughter well Jamrox. My friend has UC but she didn't develop it till in her 40s so at least bad a non traumatic teens. My other friend's daughter developed it at university and has had a few severe flares during pregnancy. It is an auto immune disease I gather so not surprising it affects eyes and joints etc.. I'm sure losing weight will help for the surgery and reduce her risk of diabetes.

On work days I share my car with my son in law. Every evening I drive the car up to their house and then go for my walk. Tonight I set off for my walk and half way through I remembered I had forgotten to fuel the car and take it. I finished my walk, cutting it to 3.6km (intended 5 this evening). I took the car and began walking the 1.3km home. Unfortunately the obsessive in me made me do one of my old walks so that meant I did 3.2km.

So I've done a total of 6.8 km this evening.

Now I've got hundreds of calories to eat!

Think I'll do a Zand...
