Have just returned from my local hospital. took daughter for light treatment. While there dropped in at the onsite Costa and purchased a Sugar Free Vanilla Latte yes you read right a sugar free vanilla latte. As Costa have now realised that there is a demand for such a thing heaven be praised they have seen the light.

For me the only surprise I have from Costs's is the price. My local hospital cafe run by them charges £3.50 for a small Americano, no frills. A round of basic cheese and tomato sandwiches came to over £15 for me and my wife, and then she could not eat hers.

Self service, and they charge a cover charge on top if you sit down in their area. RIP OFF MERCHANTS comes loudly to mind, Captive audience is another likely phrase, I have no interest in if they do sugar free or even carb free.

Well I don't know what the ingredients are mainly coffee I think the barista just said it was a relatively new range and that it was sugar free coffee and syrup I suppose this means no added sugar, and that they where also going to or are providing gluten free produce as well. So it's a step in the right direction I think. And it tasted OK and did not spike me as tested after drinking it.

It's probably a regular latte (which is a shot of espresso with steamed semi skimmed milk) with sugar free vanilla syrup. How many carbs in a cup of milk? 10g or so?

A normal costa vanilla latte has about 10 or so grams of carb a costa latte 5 grams the chia latte with cinamon sprinkle though it tastes of coffee heaven is of carbohydrate and calorific hell.

It certainly isn't sugar free. It just means there is no added sugar. 18g carbs is a lot for one cup of coffee. I'd just have the black if I had to have something, but I won't pay their prices, and its pretty disgusting anyway.

I used to work for Allied Lyons - used to be Lyons Tetley - and I just don't buy coffee or tea ready made - mostly because I can't drink it.
I did try Starbucks about 10 years ago, and they get my vote for the worst cup of coffee I ever tasted. That is only because I have no other brand to compare it with.

This may help regarding ingredients

Myfitnesspal has the medium sugar free vanilla latte at 18g carb - it's not on costa nutritional info but a sugar free. caramel one is listed as 15g - you can lower the carbs if you have soya milk

Thanks - you beat me to it :D

From that chart, the Sugarfree Caramel Latte ranges from about 7.4 to 26.9g carbs, depending on size of cup and type of milk

So really, it all depends on how many carbs, and artificial sweeteners you want to consume... :hilarious:

never have caramel latte very seldom vanilla and once in a blue moon the chia I have no problem with sweeteners.

So it is also the best brand of coffee you have ever tasted.

All the tasting of things was done 'blind' - so I knew that they were being sent out into the world, but not who got them - I was using 'brand' as in named - there must be better coffees out there, still - I hope - just not who has got them.
At home I use one of those paper cone percolators which heat and gurgle the water through the lid - and the Lidle gold brick vacuum packed grounds - they are surprisingly good, though sometimes need a pinch of salt to disguise the bitterness.
