Now this is a strange one .. at least to me!
For at least the past three weeks I've done various fasts, from 15 hours right up to 23 hours.
Today I had no intention to fast, but I wasn't hungry at breakfast time, so went into the garden to move some slabs, dig a border,
and generally tidy up.
When I came back in it was 12.15 and yet I still wasn't hungry, but thought I should eat something so had bacon, mushrooms, egg and tomato.
That was four hours ago and I still feel 'satisfied' from the meal.
Is this normal after doing fasts and do I make myself eat or just not bother?
I'm not losing weight. I lost 14 pounds rapidly during the first week on low carb, but have not lost a single ounce over these last four weeks!
Thanks for your input jonathon and it seems that you are saying this 'not feeling hungry' is a normal reaction?I think less than 24 hours is time restricted eating ...
I do time restricted eating most of the time ... usually one meal a day. I sometimes do fasts for several days ... but don't exceed a week.
When I first started fasting it was before I started a very low carb diet and became fat adapted so it was hard work. I find after becoming fat adapted I tend not to feel hungry
Ahh thank you for such a wonderful reply Lamont D. I have never wanted to do a fast longer than 24 hours, so I've kept within that so far. It's just this surprise of not feeling hungry that surprises me! My last meal yesterday was 4.14pm, and so I expected to be ready for breakfast this morning or feel weak but no, nothing!I know that I have a different reason for fasting.
But everyday I only have a window of a few hours that I have food.
That is usually between mid afternoon and 7pm in the evening.
My reason is I don't need to eat as much as I used to.
And for some reason, fasting improves my health.
I had a fasting test in hospital and you wouldn't believe the change it had in me.
I was never hungry, I was feeling a lot better, my brain function was sharper and clearer, and I reversed my weight gain to a loss. Even after four days, I still had no wish to eat.
The thing with intermittent fasting is you can please yourself how and when you do it.
I used to travel the country regularly and I found fasting was easier than working out how and what to eat.
Take it easy and be certain that fasting is good for you.
Thank you for your reply LittleGreyCat. Yes I do keep myself well liquidated with teaI find that if I reduce my food intake a lot, then I am not inclined to eat, and easily fill up.
I think part of it is the stomach shrinks when it is usually (almost) empty.
I find that after a day or so of not really feeling hungry I get some appetite back.
One bulky meal also cancels out the "not eating" feeling.
I doubt your body will let you starve, so if you aren't hungry then don't eat.
Just make sure you have plenty of fluids.
Edit: caveats about anorexia apply, of course.

Thank you for that reply Kenny. With only six weeks experience of going low carb I do still flounder somewhat and need reassurance. I do hope I've done well, and I shall know soon as my blood test prior to review is just a week away, followed by my appointment on 8th September with my new diabetic nurse. Yes, a small amount of time to 'annihilate the enemy' or as much of the enemy as possible HurricaneHippo. Wish me luck.
