A quick question

Hi all, I've been type 1 diabetic for about 2 and a half months now and usually inject in my stomach or legs. However I don't have much room to rotate on my stomach and my legs are full of bruises and quite sore now so the last 2 nights I have injected my basal into my backside.

My sugars have now been running high for about 2 days and I can't think of any reason other than the fact I changed where I usually inject. The possible correlation only just occurred to me and I guess I just wanted to know if it's possible that that's the cause of my high readings?

Sorry if this is a question that's been answered elsewhere, I have searched but couldn't find anything.

Different parts of the body does effect insulins efficiency. Atonal fastest, side of thighs and arms medium, bum not sure but can be different. Rates may need Adjusting according to your readings because of this

Buttocks are a good injection site but slow absorbtion. Try injecting in your buttocks maybe 10mins earlier ?

It won't make the slightest difference Mo as the OP is talking about her basal insulin, The buttocks are fine for basal injections and I do it there more than I do in my legs.

I think the higher bg readings are just a coincidence Rosie and it might just be your basal insulin needs increasing, your meal-time ratio's need changing or your coming down with a cold or something and the symptoms have yet to appear. Another possibility is you have had a short Honeymoon Period and it's coming to an end.........just a few possibilities but can't say for sure!
