Have been experimenting. I had a baguette with bacon in for lunch just to see what happened. I tested before, I was 6.4, 2 hours later 7.2. The only other thing I had was a glass of water. What does my result tell me? Trying to get to grips.

That you're much luckier than me LOL. Theres no way I could tolerate that

It does however depend on what you are looking for (ie a return to the 6's two hours later for example).

Not sure what type you are but if type 2 it could suggest that if you want to be back in 6's then you cant tolerate that food in order to do so. However if you are happy with the numbers then you can tolerate it with help of meds, or maybe absorption is slower so higher BG still to come?

If you are type 1 and shot insulin to cover it, then suggest that you might need to adjust a bit to bring it under the 7 (unless again you are happy with reading).

Thanks for your reply. I am type 2 and not on medication So do I assume then that after a couple of hours i should aim to get back to roughly where I was before I ate? Might seem a silly question but needed to be asked.

Nevertheless Broadss
Your numbers are higher than they need to be.
If you can do what you've described, you should be able to keep in the 4s and 5s at all times.

Many thanks both of you. I have a far better understanding now. I feel I have something tmore tangible to go on. THANK YOU. I have only had a couple of appointments with the nurse since I was diagnosed in September and have yet to see the dietician. Horrifies me to wonder what I would have been like without this fantastic site.
