A Sweet Treat.

I was pottering around Sainsbugs recently and found a little something that could be a nice sweet treat without affecting BG's.

A fig and almond, and a date and walnut wedge. Basically, the ingredients look like they have been pressed together. No added sugar and they certainly don't have that tooth-ache sweetness of sugar.

I had some with a slice or two with cheese and not much of a hit on my BG's.

Was it with the cakes Libby? I am off to Sainsbury's on Friday, so will have a look.

No, it was with the 'posh' stuff, just a few wedges. The nice thing about it is I can resist eating the bloody lot! It's a little bit like eating a dense fruit cake with cheese. I like the almond and date one better.

Thanks hunny, can't wait to see if our branch has any now. I'm like a kid at Christmas. It will be nice just to be able to pick something up off the shelf like "normal people."

The other thing to try is a cream cheese I get from Waitrose. Exactly like the cream cheese of my youth and I eat it one whole tub at a time. Nothing like the Philly stuff.

What eating it a tub at a time? I didn't think dairy was paleo.

Paleo with dairy is Primal (thank you Stephen). I thought I was going to have to go back to Atkins until Stephen told me about Primal, now that is just perfect for me, all that yummy cream and yogurt. We don't have a waitrose beside us Lib, so can't try your cream cheese. To be honest I don't really eat it anyway, although Sainsbury's do an organic cream cheese which I choose over Philly any day.

I would like to know of any sweet treats others have found, we all need something to look forward to don't we.
It's like I made a apple and rhubarb crumble with almond flour topping and coconut nectar in place of sugar, tried it a few times just couldn't get it right but got it right now and my husband thought it was really nice. My BS didn't go up at all nice for breakfast.

Loads on the recipe threads. There is a chocolate paradise thread with chocolate treats. I made my cleaning lady some almost Bounty Bars, she liked them better than the real thing, and they are so simple to make.
