Hey all,
I just realised that 5 days ago it was a year since I was diagnosed. It seems like it has gone by so fast! has anyone else noticed that ? Its strange to think that it was so new to me a year ago and now its just everyday life. Just thought I'd post this for anyone who would like to share how they feel. :D

Hi CR741 :) I have just reached the 2 year mark but unfortunately it took me a year to get around to joining this forum even though I had been reading it before. During this first year I was blindly following Endo's and dietician's orders but now have seen how wrong this was. In this time I have got thoroughly used to having Type 2 and realised that my fate is more or less in my own hands so I must do the best I can to avoid (as far as is possible) future complications. I have got over the depression and fear I felt at diagnosis and just accept it. At first for a while I wouldn't believe I had it and thought my Doctor was wrong. My greatest fear was of pricking my fingers. But once I'd learned what to do it was no big deal. Without diabetes I would never have had the pleasure of belonging to this forum and making some friends :)

hi
my son was diagnosed nearly 4 and a half years ago time has flown and we have been through so much in this time, i feel we have got stronger as people and learnt an awful lot battling to get dylan under control. its been a long road and we r def not at the end of it but i do feel we have come further this year so far than the previous 4 years put together.

just want to add that my little boy is a complete star who i love to pieces he is my inspiration and my world and he copes with this disease with a smile on his face and not a complaint on his lips i couldnt of wished for more.(well except that he was diabetes free but we would all wish for that)

It's a year for me too! I spent the first 6 months denying it - though I did have the good sense to go back on my low-carb diet! Then I gave in and allowed them to register me, and spent about a week depressed and blaming myself, before I pulled myself together and got on with it.

I registered on this forum in January. I too feel I have made some good friends, and the amount I have learned, and the support I have been given, have been invaluable. I'm swimming against the tide as far as most of my HCPs are concerned, by low-carbing, but I know that what I'm doing is right for me.

Thanks, everyone!
