I am not sure that a few hours of high levels would make a difference to Hba1c if it really is an indication of average levels over the last three months.
I would expect my Hba1c to be lower as I rarely see anything over 7 mmol/l after meals, but if my diet causes a skewing of the results then I am not surprised. I hope that it is down to having better quality red corpuscles which do not need to be scrapped rather than the system being negligent with recycling - but there's not much I can do about it.
