Hi all

Feel very lucky to be getting fitted with a pump early March; I’m getting the 780g with a G4 sensor? (Think that’s it!)

Anyway. After injecting for so many years, I’ve far from nailed my control but I’m still a bit scared about a device doing correction doses for me, and wondered if anyone had been in a similar position?

My blood sugar levels aren’t terrible however, I can be way off with my carb ratios!

I’m excited but a bit anxious! So would love to hear from anyone who’s recently started with Medtronic x

Congratulations! You'll love it once you're up and running. I've been pumping for about 12 years now. Correction doses are nothing to be scared of; listen to all the training, think about what you're doing and apply some common sense and you'll be fine.

I had to come off my pump during a holiday and couldn't believe I'd spent all those years on injections... it's a different world. And to have a sensor too - excellent!

I know I got my pump after 42 years of injecting (a couple of years ago now) - was very strange but was actual a huge sense of relief - I've got the slightly older 670g with Guardian 3 sensors - its auto-mode I dont think is nearly as good at teh 780g's so I definitely still need to knwo my carb ratios as it can only do so many corrections (the 780g may be better at this), but yes you will still need to know how many carbs you're having and what your carb ratio is - they're not that clever yet - also you need a backup plan in case it fails
As for me trusting its corrections/auto-basal I kept an eye on it very closely when I started on the sensors (6 months after I got the pump - I needed to prove that yes just the pump couldn't dealt with my overnight fluctuations and that I needed the sensors), but I'm a very techy person anyway (and I like sci-fi films) so was happy with it doing it itself and I took to it like a duck to water :), so for me that caused no problems, and my control is now far far far better than it ever was before

Hey!

Keen to hear how you are getting on? I’ve just been given my Medtronic 780 pump after 20 something years injecting and not going to lie but I’m not too keen! I think it’s the being attached to the pump constantly bit!

Well I'm about to start later in March with the tslim, after 54 years of injecting, so am interested in this thread.
I hope we all learn to love our pumps!

How’s it going? I’m still adjusting to my Medtronic 780g and it’s been rough, i hope it settles down soon. My last 24 hours have been good though.
