Has anybody on here every used Acai berry, and if so I wondered what affect they had on you. B.S. levels, mood, weight and general well being.

Would be really interested to know or even if you have read up about them and what your thoughts are on them.

Thanks

Hi Welshbunny,

Acai Berries are either the latest fad superfood, best weight loss product ever developed or a very nutritious berry, depending on who you speak to. There's a lot of media hype associated with the humble berry from Brazil, but there are some facts which are undisputed. It is has an extremely high concentration of antioxidants. It has an ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) value of 5500 for the raw fruit and approximately six times that for the processed product. ORAC is a measure of the antioxidant value and potency of a given food. Foods with a high ORAC value help promote health by increasing plasma antioxidant levels, and as a result reduce cell damage from free radicals. Now that's what is scientifically proven. In terms of the benefits of Acai, there has been good feedback from users for weight loss and also for improving skin tone. It is a pretty amazing fruit but it is no wonder drug. Like most natural products, different users will respond to it in different ways. If you want to get some real hard facts about it, search google scholar for some scientific papers on it, many of them are in fact quite readable. Here's a list of links to some articles by reputable sources.

Hope that helps,
Lucy.

PS I have tried it myself when we first started stocking it at Rainforest Foods, I noticed an immediate increase in energy. I didn't lose any weight on it but that's possibly due to me only taking it for a week.

I have no idea what these berries are or do but I get at least 4 spam emails a week trying to sell me some and anything that needs to be sold via email spam is a total no no for me, It just gets binned along with all the other garbage like emails that ask me if I want to drive women wild or would I like to give all me bank details to a Nigerian

Never tried them, I always assume they're some new fad
I've been feasting on blackberries. I have a glut of beauties this year.
