Hi,
Around two years ago I started getting some light headedness, sometimes thirsty, general uneasyness and headaches, increased heartrate, occasional blurry vision. My doctor took a blood test and everything came back clear. This has happened several times including a hospital specialist who also said there was nothing wrong. At the time I also had swollen glands in my neck and a sore ear but think this was unrelated.
My dad has had type 2 for the last 6 months or so and have noticed that a lot of his symptoms were similar to mine. After food I get increased heartrate and fuzzy headache, thirsty.
I bought a glucose testing kit out of frustration and checked it out when I got in from work.
The result was 5.4 then had (low GI) wholemeal pasta and homemade bolognese and 1hr later it was 10.4 slowly returning back to normal in a few hours.
Back to doctors and they took more (fasting) blood which, today, is also clear. The doctor told me I definitely don't have diabetes.
Can the doctor know from one blood glucose reading? I asked if I should have a Glucose tolerance test but he said there was no need.
It seems if I stick to a Low Gi diet then I don't have adverse effects. After a few glasses of white wine i felt terrible for about 3 days recently, not just a hangover (could it be alcohol induced)?
Anyway any pointers, advice, would be greatfully recieved.
Thanks,
Paul.
