Accu-Chek Combo is still available!

It doesn't mean you are "black listed" by Accuchek. In fact, they have to treat complaints seriously by the fact a record has been completed.
I did for a faulty set back 5 years ago. Not just me, but a few others must have done this across the world because they were completely withdrawn.

For 5 years I had exceptional service from one very exceptional person at Accuchek. We got on fantastic and they knew if I made a concern that it was genuine.

I sent them my books of readings, food etc and they could see I was precise with everything (too precise!!)

Hi Saikoudaze. I think the Insight is a step backward from the Combo because;

My Combo and remote both last at least six weeks until a battery change. The Insight remote battery life is about three days (Or only 8% that of the Combo). The Insight pump battery life is far shorter as well (Why do Accu-Chek quote the Insight pump battery life with the Bluetooth off?).

The Insight does not have the standard Luer Lock connector my Combo has. This means you are tied to Accu-Chek’s accessories.

I do a lot of walking for pleasure. At the moment, when a pump or remote battery gets low, I simply pop-in a replacement. It is difficult to find somewhere to charge the Insight remote halfway up a mountain (I realise you could access the pump directly, but that is awkward when it is buried under layers of cloths and it is raining).

The Combo has a 3.15mL cartridge, the Insight has a 2.0mL cartridge.

I realise the Combo has areas that could be improved, but I still think it is far better than the Insight.

Just what I've five I had trouble with the combo when it first came out and totally didn't accept it and gave it back mainly because I had to fill the cartridges and I couldn't see the marks on the syringe case or bubbles inside.

I'm on 2nd insight in 5 months as 1st one battery cover snapped off, I charge the handset every 2nd day so no problem with the charge and the pump battery lasts a good 4 weeks so there's no problem there either, but the handset is total C**p sorry for that but it's true.

Update - we have just seen the Roche rep and there is no problem going back to the Spirit Combo - a new one will be with us in a few days. Apparently anyone who doesn't like the Insight can ask to go back but they don't publish that info as they want users to give the Insight a proper try first.

They didn't acknowledge me because they had alerted the rep and were leaving it in her hands so all in all I'm now happy with the customer service.
