So thrilled I wanted to share with the community, I was told about a year ago that I had type 2, and I read everything I could and lost 2 stone. Today I went for my Hba1C and was told by the Diabetic nurse that I am in remission. My first reading was something over 12, so I have come a long way and feel I want to share it.
I feel two of the most important things that I learnt on this forum and reading in general rather than through the GP were lose weight if your are overweight, and that Carbs turn to sugar something I did not understand before, I pretty much avoid all the obvious carbs now, bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, although I do have treats, which is why I was not necessarily expecting this result as especially in the last 3/4 months I have made more little treats ! but still achieved this result. I am so happy !!! I know it may not last and if I go back to where I was before with weight and eating I will have the problem again, but hey ho for now I am not Diabetic.

well done i know the feeling i was 12.5 in february this year 5.5 in june and 5.3 a few weeks ago.. keep up with what youve learned about carbs etc. i know im going to!

Very well done on your reduction in HbA1c, but the hard work must continue to stay in the non diabetic range. I am in the same position however I would never say I’m not diabetic, just in remission. I hope your nurse is still going to put you forward for annual checks, eye test, foot check etc...

Did the nurse give you the actual result? Personally I'd be asking what that was rather than taking their word for it.

Yes, I agree -find out what the nfigures were so you know where you are. Your nurse may have a different definition of remission, so do find out.

However, very well done, and keep it up :)

Well done, not returning to old habits hits the nail on the head. There have been several discussions on this forum about what is diabetes reversal and several different ideas of how to define it. While you may not be diabetic, you could very well be carbohydrate intolerant, so please don't become too complacent about carbs. It's only an opinion but I think pancreatic health, insulin resistance and tolerance of carbs have all to be considered.

Well done. Keep an eye on the 'little treats', they have a habit of gradually becoming more frequent or bigger.
