Hello People.

I wanted to ask if anyone here has Actimel for breakfast? - 1 bottle is 100g contains approx 12g of carbs. I wanted to know if it was OK. to have, i don't know much about carbs although i know its safe to stay around 5g per 100g. I have already stopped Bananas.

I am Awaiting my blood test results to see if my ALT has improved also since i have stopped Bananas and Juice, and More rice cakes and sweets.

Do you use a glucose meter to test before and after breakfast?
Some can deal with 12 grams of carbs for breakfast without issue, for others it may mean a spike. The only way to find out how it works for you is to test.

I do, before breakfast its 14mmol- and after breakfast 16mmol- and then i usually check again and it has come down to 14mmol. my lowest today was 10.6mmol.

Yes, unfortunately it is high, i am trying to eat good and by good i mean staying away from high sugar foods. especially if they're above 5g per 100g i was hungry at work and i got a sandwich and it had in the pack 45g of carbs. - it was a tuna sandwich.

Maybe take some other lunch with you to work so you don't have to eat sandwiches?

@UsmanMo96 am I right in thinking that you are on insulin? While low carb should hopefully help you (and maybe even allow you to reduce the insulin taken) you do need to be aware of the possibility of low blood sugar as your levels come down. Make sure you have something sugary with you at all times, just in case....
 
I'd also like to suggest that you can order a sandwich but just eat the filling and not the bread. Or order a burger and just eat the patty (and cheese) and not the bun if you want to reduce the carbs for the meal. This has been something I have started to do on the rare occasion I feel like I need to eat something and haven't got another option. My chooks appreciate the buns (not that I do it too often but just as another idea).

I am indeed. I haven't had any lows since going back on insulin.

That's a good idea. & i do that with most dishes instead of roti i just eat with a spoon. Or maybe once or twice i have had burgers wrapped in lettece. Honestly it was nice.
