Hi
My name is Jo and I am mum to Rhiannon who is 6 years old. She was diagnosed with Type 1 at 2 years old. Rhiannon is currently on the Accu-Check Combo pump which we have had since July 2009.
I just wondered what ‘active insulin time’ you have programmed into your pumps? Rhiannon’s pump is currently set to 4 hours active time and she uses Novo Rapid. I have a suspicion that here insulin is stacking, she has quite a few snacks throughout the day and I think the insulin is over lapping and is possibly the reason why she is have a few hypo's before lunch. I believe we have been compensating by adjusting her bolus carb ratio time blocks which are set for when she usually snacks and feel we may be masking the problem which is probably the ‘active insulin time’. We are considering amending the 'active insulin time' to 5 hours and are preparing for the knock-on effect this will have on her bolus or even basal settings.
Thanks
Jo
