Hi,
I have to decide which hospital to get my 12 year old referred to and just wondered if anyone would recommend either. He needs to see a diabetes expert or an endocrinologist.

I don't know anything about UCLH, but I'm at Addenbrookes and I think their care is fantastic. I'm not sure what their kids clinic is like, but I do know that the team are great, and they have a young adults clinic for people between the ages of 15-21, to give them a better transfer between the kids clinic and the adults one, which I really like. They're also particularly good for pumps, if that's something you're interested in. :)

I don't have experience of either, but UCLH is a teaching hospital, so should be very up-to-date. Addenbrookes has a great reputation. What you need to ensure is a specialist. Endocrinologist or better still a Diabetician, with paediatric experience. They are rare, but you can check out the hospital websites.

UCLH has a great Paediatric Diabetes Team including Endo's Specialist Nurses, Psychologists and Dietitians. Don't know about Addenbrooke.
