Hello and welcome @Awiiiiin ,

I am certainly no expert but with 3 kids all with either ADD or ADHD I don't think there is any direct relationship with diabetes. None at diabetic (at this stage).

The body is highly complex though and there maybe some link that I'm not aware of.

I also think that we are at an age in medical science where maybe conditions are now more clearly diagnosed due to the increase in knowledge.

Are diabetes and ADHD related in any way

Not as far as I was aware, but Dr Google says I'm wrong.

The article below claims a positive correlation between ADHD and T2 .
https://www.additudemag.com/adhd-type-2-diabetes-health-link/
But it also claims no correlation between T1 and ADHD, and only recognises 3 types of diabetes (T1, T2, GD)

And this one states there is more ADHD in T1s, though it's a correlation rather than causality, and it's possibly just that T1 kids get more doctor's visits so ADHD is more likely to get picked up.

It seems to me that the connections are still a bit up in the air, maybe because there's so much variation in ADHD diagnosis?

My kids were diagnosed (along with some other conditions) following crises. They were required to do some testing which tested attention patterns. My youngest one only slept between 3 and 4 hours in a 24 hour period from about 18 months old. His doctor (father of 4 boys) picked it at 3 and he was formally diagnosed at 6. He is on the extreme part of ADHD with still needing very little sleep.

There are tests to do and I suggest that if you have any questions you do the testing. The three of them have other health conditions which also impact but at this stage at least not diabetes.

Good luck.
